9 lbs 1 ounce was my growth sono today

so sunday I have to have a c- section. Dr. tried to schedule me sooner no availabitility! Didnt realize how busy winthrop is!!!!!
Dr. doesnt want to take chance of babys shoulder getting stuck.
I am super nervous about having a c- section. Vaginal was so easy.
I guess I will know about both worlds now.
any advice from c- section moms or tales would be great!

Good Luck!!
Why don't they think you can deliver a 9lb baby vaginally? People have done it?

DO you want the c, or did your dr suggest it? How big was your first child? I know people who have delivered 9 lb babies, and they were fine. I would think, since you already delivered vaginally, that you could do this (only if its what you want) then they could induce youChat Icon

I had a C-section just 3 1/2 weeks ago for the exact reason. (I also had GD) At the sono right before I had her they were measuring her at 9lbs7oz. She was born at 8lbs8oz. I won't lie, the C-section really was NOT fun but each day you feel better and better. The first few days after surgery were the worst but I can honestly say that 3 1/2 weeks out now I feel like my old self again. You'll be fine. Lots of luck!!Chat Icon

Oh wow! SO exciting and scary at the same point. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Sonos can be wrong. I wish they'd let you try vaginally, but I guess doctors know best. I gave birth to a large baby, 11 pounds 8 ounces by c-section and I didn't think it was that bad.

Just make sure whoever is in the room with you doesn't look around the sheet, or catch a glimpse through a 'break' in the sheet. My DH accidentally saw around and he has nightmares over it.

Good luck!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I also had a big baby due to GD she was 9 plds. 8 oz at birth by a c. Dr. did not want to chance labor and then have to do it. it was not horrible at all, the pain can be fixed with meds but don't over do it. The scariest part for me was when they were putting the spinal block in then it was fine! Good luck and congrats!!!!!!!

Having the C is up to you, you could tell the Dr you want to try for a vaginal.

My sister's 3rd baby was 10lbs 6 oz and she delivered him vaginally. Do whatever you are most comfortable with Chat Icon

Re: 9 lbs 1 ounce was my growth sono today

My DS measured the same 1 week before his EDD, he came on his EDD at 9lb 14oz via c-section. I had a great section experience. I think being planned is a factor in the recovery process. Everyone I know who was planned, myself included, had minimal recovery time. We were all sore and had to limit certain activities but overall it wasn’t bad at all.

Just enjoy your last few days without your LO.
