When to tell my students...?
Hi! Let me preface this by saying that I work in a private all-girls school, and teach 9th & 12th grade. I am about 10 weeks pregnant, and am debating when to tell my students I am pg. The staff already knows. I was going to try to get to get to right before Thanksgiving break & then tell them, but as this is my third child, I'm pretty sure I am going to start showing earlier (my jeans are already kinda tight). I would rather have control over the situation by telling them than have them ask & get put on the spot, KWIM? Does anyone have any advice on doing this? I am going to post on the teacher board too. Thanks!!

Re: When to tell my students...?
Im a HS counselor and I work with students grades 10-12. I meet with them on an individual basis, so I haven't really mentioned it (im 23 weeks) very awkward. If it does somehow come up, ie: student asks me if I have kids I do tell them. I do run a diversity group and I did announce it to those students during our first meeting back. Once I told them a few students told me that they had a feeling I think if you tell them as soon as you start showing... so that you are not caught off guard. good luck!

I would say as soon as you're clearly showing in your work clothes. Better to be upfront with them I think then have them whisper and wonder, and it puts you in control of how they're finding out.
