anyone have a Mexican tiled kitchen/table?- added pictures
So our kitchen is almost complete (we just have a to pick a backsplash.) DH and I both love Mexican hand painted tiles. We agree that it would be too much as a backsplash, but we're thinking of either using it as art on the walls or tiling our existing kitchen table. Has anyone done anything like that? Any pictures?
ETS- our overall look is not Mexican, we just thought adding this style to our contemporary kitchen would be interesting.
Here are some pictures...

Thinking of tiles like these for either the table top or wall art

what if you did a terra cotta tile back splash and mixed those in as an accent?

I LOVE terra cotta tiles, our only concern would be that they would make the cabinets look too orangey.

you could definitely do it as a table top - love the idea. I am just trying to think will the outside edges show the clay underneath? You may have to 'frame' the table edge with a bullnose piece
I also love the idea of a hanging wall art - but tile gets heavy so you would have to see big & heavy it would get.

If we did it as a wall piece, we would put the tiles on plywood and then mount it to the wall very securely. They can't possibly be any heavier that the appliances we have on the stainless steel shelves.

what about using just a few in the backsplash? I know you said not terra cotta - and these pictures are mostly terra cotta color - but you can pick a different background to go with the tiles you do choose
this is our house in Mexico
I wish I had a picture of MIL's kitchen - she has similar tiles that are spread out much more - I'll see if DH has one
this is the kitchen in Mexico - this is very spread out - but it does have a small mural design (don't mind the furniture/sheet, it's a vacation home and the sand does a doozey on everything)
