for those on the cusp of labor.....
Other than some scary 1st timester bleeding, overall, Scone has been pretty healthy and there have been minimal issues with my pregnancy (the GD thing wasn't a big deal... it was easily managed)
But now, I'm a tad apprehensive. I'm basically scared of all the uncertainties of labor. right now I believe Scone is in perfect health... just happily sconing around in my belly (doing the backstroke as we speak!)... but I'm afraid that all the sudden things can crop-up during birth, and may negatively impact Scone's health. (Scone getting stressed during the birthing process, oxygen deprivation... you name the unusual situation, I'm thinking about it these days!) I know in many of these freaky scenarios they can whip us to the OR and get our babies out in no time.... but I guess the drama of labor and the total lack of control I will have is starting to get to me.... I guess it's mommy-jitters.....
Anyone else in a similar paranoid frame of mind?

Re: for those on the cusp of labor.....
I'm right there with you. I've had no issues with my pregnancy at all, but that still doesn't stop me from worrying.
Plus, after this morning's appt and 's enlarged bladder, I'm even more paranoid. During the appointment, I said to DH that I couldn't believe that we came this far without any problems and now something pops up.
I'm sure everything will be fine with both of our little ones...so let's try not to worry ourselves silly!

Re: for those on the cusp of labor.....
I think that once you get over one fear in the pregnancy, another one pops up. This will unfortunately continue through their lives. Their first cough, their first step, their first bruise, cut, going to school, having a gf/bf, getting driver license, going to the prom, then college, getting their first real job, getting married, having kids of their own.. It will never end.
Just take this time to enjoy having that little one wiggle around and think about how exciting watching your child grow will be.
Don't worry, everything will be fine.

Re: for those on the cusp of labor.....
thanks....
I'm trying my best to just not think about it and 'enjoy' the ride of labor and delivery. I'm sure that while I'm going through it, I'll be too busy, in too much pain, and too tired to be paranoid...
I also know the few seconds before his first cry will seem like an hour to me... but that's fine.
but while I want Scone to vacate, I can't help but irrationally want to cling to status quo since it's been working so well for us!

How true is that. Every step of this pregnancy I've been worried about one thing or the other.
I'm definitely worried about the delivery, but right now my mind is most worried about WHEN the delivery will happen.

Re: for those on the cusp of labor.....
as much as i didn't *want* a c-section, not having to worry about what might happen during labor was kind of a relief for me. i totally get where you are coming from. but i know you are totally rational enough to realize that the chances of something going wrong are sooooo slim and your little scone will be just fine!!

I totally hear you on that one.....
while, I know a natural birth is 'best', I can totally see how the section you needed was a mental relief at the same time.
I'm still technically headed for a natural birth. there is no looming date for being induced yet, nor a section on the horizon. I'm still taking that as being a good thing. I just want it over, and scone to be healthy and in the real world already!
