SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

I called for my Ultrascreen appt. -
She takes a ton of info and declares
Weds Oct 8 at 12:30 ..........

"oh, I work in NYC - Do you have anything else?"

Huffing at me, "NO, we're completely booked" -

"Do you possibly have something later in the day? I'm flexible as far as the day and time - something early in the AM or later in the afternoon? DH and I are both in Manhattan and would have to basically take the entire day off mid week for a one hour test ..........."

"NO, that's the ONLY appt."

"O - KAY. Thank you"

Now, I'm SURE they are busy but really? You are going to tell me that in a 2 week period the ONLY 1 hour appt you have is at 12:30 on a Wednesday???

And you COULD have been a little nicer to me about it - Jeeze !!! It's not like I was asking you to move heaven and earth !! I was JUST asking you to check the computer for an alternate appointment !!!

Seroiusly people? It's NOT 1952 - Pregnant women actually WORK during the day !!! Chat Icon

Thats so annoying, when you end up going before you leave i would make your 16 week and level two appt so you can get the time you need...my dr suggested this to me, i have my next 4 appts booked.

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

I swear, in 2008 you would think most offices would be open later than 5pm. I had to also take a day off for my 2nd ultrascreen because they were only open M-F 9-4PM. Seriously....

What about for trying a little later? I am going to be 22 weeks on Thursday, and my Level II is tomorrow.

But I agree- that woman sounds like she was a total b!tch.

unfortunately, she can't... the ultrascreen has to be done during a specific time frame in order to be accurate......

How do you feel about switching your dr to one in the city? That would make it easier for all of your appts.

i agree...

is this place different from your regular OB? if yes, call your OB's office and explain the situation. sometimes they can call for you and get better times.

if that doesn't work i would seriously ask your OB for another location. they should have a few alternatives.

i have put up with a lot of bs from my specialists office, but second time around i know how to navigate things a little better. i decided to go back to the practice only because my OB stated that the other alternatives may not be any better, so i figured i would deal with the "devil i know" so long as i felt he was competent...

The ultrascreen has to be between 11-14 weeks. And I wanted mine to be on my birthday so I could take the day and I was going to be 14 wks, 1 day and they said NO.

To the OP, I always had to schedule sonos at least 4 weeks in advance to get the ones before and after work, it sucks, but it worked. In fact, for my Level II, I didn't even have the script for it, I just knew I could go at 18 weeks and I had an appointment at 18 weeks even so I made the appt at like 13.5 weeksChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

Wow that is pretty bad. I did not get the ultrascreen, but I do remember having to fight each time I had to get a sono last PG, which was quite often because I had a previa. I would have to make them 2 weeks out, and did not know if I had to make another until the first visit was over....

Finally I just got my Drs office involved since it was really unreasonable for them to expect me to take a day off of work every 2 weeks on top of my weekly OB appointments.

Chat Icon I would talk to your OB and see if they can help.

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

If you are not doing the ultrascreen at your Drs. office, I would find some where in the city maybe near your office you can have it don.e

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

For both the ultrascreen and LevelII they couldn't fit me in we both had to take the entire day off from work bc we both work in the city and they just couldn't find a normal appt!!!!Chat Icon

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

Ugh - I totally feel your pain! My OB's office is only OPEN Mon - Fri from 8am - 4:30. My hours at work are 8am - 5pm, and my office is too far for me to go to "on lunch".

I am also taking an entire day off for my Level II Sonogram. Luckily I was able to do my Ultrascreen where I work (at a hospital).

Good luck - it isn't easy dealing with those Dr's office staff people!!!

Ugh, that is so annoying. If that IS the only appointment (which I doubt) no need to be rude about it! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

It's not done in the Dr's office, I have to go over to NShore Manhassett (I go to Dr. Trongone - and I LOVE his entire office and staff they are all SO nice and so helpful)

It's not that I CAN'T take the day off to do it, but who wants to waste a vacation day on a WEDNESDAY and have to go for a test right smack in the middle fo the day? Y'know?? And the fact that she was so rude to me was just icing on the cake -

I was thinking I'd do exactly what a lot of you suggested and make my other sono appts. very early .........Chat Icon

i'm sure I could go over to NYU or Cornell or something for the test .........I have to ask around.

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

Can you call back and ask to speak to a supervisor to see if they really do not have another appointment time available? It's BS to have to deal with their attitude. Sounds like the lady you spoke with just didn't want to help and threw the first appointment she saw at you.

Re: SO ANNYOING re: Appointments -

I think all the good time slots get booked waaaaay early.

I didn't know better so all my appointments are at awkward times, at the only time slot that they could fit me in. I find it very annoying.

The practice I go to is very busy, which is why I am thinking of switching doctors.
