Working Preggies would this bother you

So I have about 8 weeks to go in my pregnancy and my boss hires a temp from a similar department within my company so I can train her while I'm on leave. So it turns out the temp is pregnant and tells us after she accepts the job. She's not in the hospital but she has extreme naseous etc so she has been home for 2 weeks!!

Meanwhile when I was in my 1st trimester I came to work and puked my brains out here and one time I left for 20 minutes (mind you i'm a mgr) he went crazy looking for me and yelled at me that next time I need to let someone know in case something happens to me.

It bothers me that he has allowed the girl to be out for 2 weeks straight and me he has given such a hard time. I work through lunch and work a lot of overtime lately I thought the temp was here to help me out. Am I just overreacting???

That would bother me as well, but sounds like your boss is just going to continue allowing the temp to do this.

Just do your work, and if they don't have anyone to take over your position, it is not your fault.

Re: Working Preggies would this bother you

that would really annoy me that the temp is being given more concessions than you as a ft employee-- however, she is also not held to the same standards as you are.

What it sounds like they should be doing is looking for a replacement for your replacement-- they are the ones that will be SOL when you leave.

So, as much as it is soooo annoying, that this girl is allowed to take it easy, and you weren't-- it is so not your problem.

That would annoy me too, but look at it this way, maybe he is not as hard on her cause she is just a temp afterall.

Cheer up!

that would really annoy me to no end...you have been loyal to the company and she has not even been there for long enough to blink....but as a pp said, they hold you to a higher standard which can be a double edged sword sometimes!

I agree i would be a little P*** off!!!!

Maybe he feels he has a closer relationship with you and feels more comfortable to tell you something and that is why he will actually say somthing to you rather than to her.

But still not fair...

Is it possible he's "not caring" because she's not getting paid? Where I work non full time employees only get paid when they work. Not sure if that's going to make you feel any better but just a though. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Working Preggies would this bother you

I'm just irritated because while I'm trying to be compassionate to her situation b/c I too was not well during my 1st trimester I just feel like I hauled my butt into work day in and day out and meanwhile she has been out 2 weeks Resting. I am not a mean person at all but I dont know why this is bugging me so much.

You guys are right though they are SOL when I leave soon if thats any indication of how she will cover for me.

Thanks for letting me vent! Chat Icon

wow that would bug me to no end! maybe in a wierd twisted way he appreciates your work more and that's why he got so bent out of shape when you were gone? i know that doesn't make much sense, but i don't know what to make out of that! sorry Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It does stink! I'm sure your boss values you much more and that's why he wants you to work. You must be a great employee!
