sewer repair/replacement
so we are having this done starting tomorrow and for the next three days. they have to dig in our front yard and out into the street to repair the sewer line. i am TERRIFIED of mice and im so scared that doing this is going to bring them into my house. i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or any advice. TIA

Sewers in the suburbs aren't like what you see in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
There are more mice roaming around above ground than could possibly live in the sewer lines. You definitely don't need to worry about mice from the sewers. Suburban sewers are relatively small pipes with plenty of water running through them. There's no way mice could survive in there.

Re: sewer repair/replacement
I just read the related post on NFR about the construction related to the sewers and mice. I still don't think they came from the sewer directly, but I know that it won't help you if the mice came from somewhere else because the machines disturbed the area...
I always figure "Why worry until something actually happens." Most likely, everything will go smoothly, and you won't have any visitors. Then, you would have worried for nothing.

thank u for the reassuring words. i am so freaked out bc we just moved into this house (in bellerose, queens) from a mouse infested apartment and the thought of having that problem again makes me absolutely sick. as we speak, the trucks are all outside my house and the backhoe (or whatever its called) is on my lawn poised for digging. ugh.
