POLL: HSG Procedure and BFP
Hey ladies,
Just curious - I'm wondering how many of you have had the HSG procedure prior to getting your BFP. I've heard from my doctors that chances of getting pregnant are VERY high up to 3-4 months after that procedure.
I had the procedure done and the second cycle after I got my BFP.

ETA: Trying to help a friend out with this post - please post your experience with this procedure (painful, didn't hurt at all, etc.)

It's a procedure to see if your fallopian tubes are blocked.

I tried for almost a year to get pg with #2.
I had an HSG and got pg the following week. I totally feel that it "blew all of the cobwebs out"!!!!

It really depends what your IF issue is. For us it ended up being male factor so the HSG did nothing to increase our fertility. It's defnately a must as far as diagnostic tests go before you begin treatment.

We were told to abstain for 24 hours after.
I also agree with the PP about what your issues are. I had my HSG just about a year ago before we knew we were also dealing with male factor IF. Therefore, having the HSG didn't do anything for me.

I had an HSG in January, and then had my first IUI Feb 1. I did get pregnant, but I don't know if it was because of the HSG or it was just coincidence since it was my first IUI as well. that pregnancy ended in miscarriage in March, but I got pregnant again in April - with my second IUI 4.25. So take whatever you would like from this information
ETA: When I had the HSG it didn't hurt at all - I didn't even cramp or anything. I was just uncomfortable for the speculum being in for so long.
