Dr. George (W. Islip) & Dr. Woletsky (Suffolk Pediatrics, W. Islip)

Hi,

I am torn between these two practices for a pediatrician. Since I'm on bedrest, I never got to visit Dr. Woletsky, but my good friend loves them. I did visit Dr. George, he is literally around the corner from where we live, office is beautiful, clean, etc and I liked him. The only dilemma is that the last appt is 5:00 or so, no late hours. When I go back to work, that will be an issue. I know they have Saturday hours, but I'm unsure if they will be impossible to get an appt with on Saturdays. Suffolk Pediatrics (Woletsky) has three late nights, which might work better for me; however, I never met the drs there and am unsure if that is a good reason to choose one over the other.

Any feedback on these practices? And aside from unplanned sickness, how many times will I be bringing babies there in the beginning? Thanks so much.

We use Dr. Zanolin from Suffolk Pediatrics and we love him. I did meet Dr. Woletsky when DS was in the hospital. He was nice too.

We use Dr. Lambert at Suffolk Peds, she deals with most of the moms who BF. But, we have seen Woletsky and Zanolin too. I like all of them and the nurses are gerat too when you call with a question.

we were torn between the same two offices when we were choosing peds. We went with Dr. George's office and are very happy and comfortable with them so far. DD is only 2 1/2 mths though , so we've only been a couple of times. But whenever I had a question a doctor always called me back within an hour or so, if it was something the nurse couldn't answer for me. We have seen Dr. George who is really good and Dr. Van Curra (female) who is also very good and kind. My friend uses Wolestsky and is happy with that office too. I don't think they met with him before.

That is great to hear. I'm still deciding, I just wish Dr. George had even one late night!

We use Dr. George. I have a 10yr old, 3yr old and a 1yr old they all LOVE him. I understand being a working mom not having evening apts can be difficult but in the 2yrs I've been there I yet to have a problem bring the boys in on a Saturday. They are usually for emergency apts but I'm sure if you explained your situation they would work with you. However I have also heard good things about Dr. Woletsky. IMO I think your ok with which ever one your choose.

I love Suffolk Peds..I have seen all the Dr's there and like them all Equally. they ALL know my sons name and I have seen One Dr. Only 2 times.

When Noah was 5 and 1/2 months old he was in Good Sam for RSV and they were SOOO great.

Plus we hardly ever wait long there, never more then 15 minutes, EVER in over a yr....

And I can call for stupid questions.

I can always get an appointment for a semi emergency ( sicknesS) the same day or next day and get evening appoinments for Shots so DH can come with me.

I reccomend them..Plus they have a sick and well room and sick and well entrance/exit.

I have no experience with Suffolk Pediatrics - but I actually followed Dr. George when he left Grello. And when I moved from East Islip to Sayville I stayed with him - even though it would have been easier to switch to someone closer. Each of the staff makes an effort to know you and your children. They don't medicate my kids for every little thing and they listen to all of my crazy concerns without judgement.

They do not have late hours - but we make it work. Their annual checkup is on a Saturday this year - and I did book it a couple of months in advance - but that really wasn't an issue for me.

I think it's a fantastic practice and I recommend it to everyone!

Thanks ladies! It sounds as if no matter which I choose, I will be happy with the practice. I just need to figure out if the hours will help make my decision. Chat Icon

i see dr. zanolin from dr. woletsky's practice. i am very happy with the practice so far. getting appointments and changing them is easy, the doctor is very nice and never rushes you. i highly recommend them. however, i know a lot of people who use dr. george and love him. i don't htink you could go wrong with either practice. choose the one you feel most comfortable with. worst case, you can always switch.Chat Icon

Re the Saturday hours. i know they try ank keep them open to sick patients. i dont think they take may regular appointments.
