What train line are you on?

Off the top of my head, I would suggest Great Neck. The train stops right in town and you can take them for lunch at Pancho's (kid-friendly Mexican place) and then walk down the block to the park (which has sprinklers). You can also get some Cold Stone at some point. Chat Icon

what about long beach? then you can take them down to the beach for a little bit and head back. I don't remember it being a really long walk to the beach. maybe 5-6 blocks?

The train also stops right in Town in Port Washington and you could walk around. It is a long walk to the bay, but do-able if you have them in a stroller and used to walking.

Check out south haven park , I do not know the phone # but they have a LI Live Steamer train ride there. It is not LIRR but cute for kids.

It looks so cute there..we've been to the park, but never on the train. I know some families that have done bday parties there too.

take the train to Port Jefferson. The Village offers lots of great shops but your kids would get a kick just walking down to the dock to see the boats and ferry. You can grab McDonalds there or an ice cream cone.

Then just behind Harbor Square Mall in the parking lot is Rocket Park that all kids seem to love.

I also think the village center offers free activities for the kids in the summer. Look on exploreli.com
