Another crib transition question

Ok, so I got the impression from you all that moving DC from the swing to the crib is going to be hellish. DH wants to start putting him in the crib startng tonight (he's off for the next few days and we wanted to start when we both are able to commit to it). Anyway, I wonder if we're better off easing him in. I just put him in for a nap in the swing but didn't turn it on - first time I did this. He is actually sleeping so I guess when he's tired he will go to sleep no matter what. But, should I do a few days of him sleeping in something that isn't moving before making the leap to crib at night? Is it too big of a jump? I just don't want to rush the transition and end up having to backtrack b/c we didn't ease him in.

So, cold turkey into the crib tonight or do another few days of easing him in and try the transition when DH is off next week?

I did it cold turkey and believe it or not it worked. I fed, swaddled,rocked and the put down already sleeping and he stayed sleeping, no problems.

I might have been just lucky but I think its worth a try. GL

We did it cold turkey and CIO. At 7 months he started trying to climb in the swing and it had to go. It took 2 nights. Our bedtime routine is nighttime bottle, relax with us a little, 4-5 short books, then bed where we put him down and leave the room. No rocking, just the fisher price aquarium on. The first night he cried 8 min (it definitely felt longer so I watched the clock). Second nigh he cried 4 min. The third night he whimpered a little for like a min before he was out. I think it took another couple of days for him to take a nap in the crib at daycare.

See, my problem is Ryan is too young for CIO so if he does start crying my only option is to go in and get him, right?

You know Dylan doesn't sleep long stretches, but he does go down to sleep very well. I've read all the sleep books and I thought the best idea for putting a young baby to sleep was from the baby whisperer. She has a shush/pat method. Its time consuming and it can kill your back leaning over the crib, but it does seem to work. A lot of the time I can put my little guy down drowsy and he settles himself now.

Good luck. Our bassinet to crib transition took only two nights before he was settled. Hopefully your transition goes just as well. (BTW my little guy did a 4 hour stretch last night! Progress, yay!)

We did cold turkey from bassinet to crib. It took over a week for DS to adjust. He was 4mth old and used to sleeping in his bassinet so close to me. He woke every night crying. I swore my next DC was going straight into the crib.
