IF you had Central Air installed...

What was the approximate price?
I have a 3 bedroom ranch...wondering what it would cost?
And how long did it take for them to install it? Is it a one day thing or does it take longer??

Re: IF you had Central Air installed...

We had it installed in our 2-level house 2 years ago (we have a hi-ranch). I think we paid in the area of $7000 - and in that cost we also got a brand new furnace for heating too. Our CAC is run off the furnace, so that's why we got the new heating system too. We used the existing ductwork we had in place (we have forced air heat).

It took them one whole day - they were here from like 8-6. I think it might take a little more time if you need ductwork and vents cut for the installation.

We have a 3 bedroom ranch too and had CAC installed last month. I believe that we paid something like $6500 to have it done (we needed the ductwork installed). We got 8 different quotes that ranged between $6,500 and $15,000. In the end we went with All Weather in Copiague and they were fantastic. They manufacture all of their own ducts (unlike the other 7 companies) and we believe that's why they were so much cheaper. I'd highly recommend them...

ETA: It took them 2 days from start to finish

Wow that is not bad! We have a 3 BR ranch too. Thanks for the info! We may be able to swing that next year.

Re: IF you had Central Air installed...

I have a 3br two story ranch and mine was 9k. I needed everything including the ductwork.

It would have been a little cheaper but I went for an upgraded 16seer R-410a refrigerant unit.

I also have a really cool thermostat from Proliphix. Its a digital, programable thermostat that I have hooked up to my cable computer router.

I can monitor the temperatures in my house from any web browser (even outside like from my job) and change the temperature and program the thermostat remotely.

This is great as if I anticipate coming home and it's really hot inside the house, I can just hit the thermostat from the web browser on my phone and turn the CAC on.

I have a couple sensors attached to it too, so I have readings for the temperature downstairs, the temperature upstairs, and the temperature outside. I can see everything from the web browser.

Best thing ever.

Proliphix.com and they will work with any low voltage system. I even have my downstairs oil heating zone connected to it as well for the winter.
