Which bottles did you register for? BPA related

The ones ( I registered for) are getting negative feedback from parents on the Babies R Us website because they are contaminated with BPA.

I'm not exactly sure what this means Chat Icon

- I registered for the Playtex Ventair ones.

Can anyone explain what this is? Should I be concerned?

BPA has been in the news a lot lately and there have been a few posts about it on here. There are potential health risks associated with BPA.

My sister registered for the Dr. Brown's BPA Free ones. Knowing what I know now, I would never buy and that had BPA in them. JMO>

BPA is a chemical in some clear plastics.... it leaches out into food and could cause problems.... especially in babies. It's banned in canada and the EU... The US is always one of the last countries to ban something toxic, so it's still FDA approved and legal to sell... none the less, many parents are avoiding BPA products (bottles, pacifiers, food containers)

Being a scientists, I know how long it takes before society acknowledges some manufacturing ingredient is toxic. Well, almost everything in plastics are toxic, it's just a matter of what is stable and doesn't leach out into food, and what does.

DH and I agree that plastic is bad, so we're avoiding it altogether. Crouton is getting glass bottles with silicone nipples. He is also going to eat from stainless steel plates / bowls / utensils.

I was thinking of getting the glass bottles but knowing I am a clutz I know I will end up breaking them so I am going for the drop ins there is BPA in the bottle but not in the liners and not in the silicone nipples unless they come out with something else between now and then...

We registered for the Adiri bottles. We took a class on how to care for a newborn and the nurse told us these bottles are better than Born Free.

They are excellent if you plan on nursing so the nipple doesn't confuse the baby. They made it so it's just like the real thing!

We have the Born Free bottles which are BPA free. BRU carries them. Here is a link to the Born Free site which has some info on BPA.

Born Free

BPA has been banned in some countries (like Canada) and there are states in the US trying to have it banned here as well. Walmart has announced they are removing any bottles with BPA from their shelves. You can google it to research and read articles. I have read a lot and will not give my baby anything with BPA.
