Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
OK, so DS has been on lots of antibiotics and probably will be for awhile so I was thinking of switching to organic diary when he starts milk in 2 weeks and organic meat. Now, milk is expensive, especially organic, and I'm already paying through the nose for daycare. But daycare provides regular whole milk or soy milk. So I was thinking of doing organic whole milk at home and asking them to give him the soy at daycare. Is there any reason this shouldn't work? Then I saw organic soy, to make me even crazier, which I assume means less preservatives, but since soy has no antibiotics or hormones, organioc or non-organic should still be better than regular milk, right?

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
Anybody else? Anybody do both soy and cow's milk? I'm looking to see also if the kids get picky about which one they want and would possibly start refusing one or the other.

I think it should be fine. BJs has organic milk & organic soy for less than traditional milk in the grocery store.
I switched DS to soy when he was sick, and he did not appear to even notice. I switched him back to organic cow's milk when he was well again.

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
Are you giving them unsweetened soy milk or the soy milk with sugar (sweetner) in it???
Just curious. Also, do you guys get Goats Milk regularly in the states? You can get Goats milk at all the supermarkets here.

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
You really want to always go for organic soy whenever possible. Soy that is not organic is genetically modified and not very healthy because of that....

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
I thought Soy milk didnt have the same amount of calcium or lacked some vitamin/mineral that cows milk has. I could be wrong though.

They make it enriched, so you can get it with the same amount of everything as milk...

I literally JUST read this in a parenting mag at the OB's office today. If you're going to go organic on anything- it's soy, followed closely by dairy.

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
So, I'm a little confused...
If they offer regular soy milk and regular cows milk, which one is better?

Re: Soy and organic milk questions and thoughts
We switch between milk and soy milk all the time and it has never bothered Alex. In fact, she now prefers the taste of soy milk...
