i don't keep it on all night, but in the morning ifi hear her moving around i'll check it or after i put her down, i'll bring it down with me and i'll turn it on just to make sure she is sleeping and stuff.
as she's gotten older its more for our entertainment value i think. i love watching her try to take her socks off and throw stuff out of her crib.

I used the monitor up until about 3.5 yrs. I feel better knowing what is going on in there. He has nightmares.

That is so strange that your doc would say that! How does he know the layout of your house to know if you can hear the baby from your room? Hmm 
Well, anyway, I still use ours. I have a sound only in our family room and a video one by my bedside. I like to watch him sleep sometimes  and in the morning I use it to determine if he is really up or not.

DS is 4 months and I don't really use it much anymore. We are in an apt., so I can hear him really well from our room when we are in bed. I think I am really sensitive to his noises, though. When I had the monitor on and heard him through the night, I never got a decent night's rest.
Once we move to a house, I will probably use it again if we are on a different floor from him.
Ditto, except DS is 2 mos. I have it in the kitchen and use it only if he's down for a nap and I'm doing laundry or cooking and wouldn't really hear him.

DS is 14 months and I do not plan on getting rid of it anytime soon..Especially at nap time. We are on different floors.
