Can I officially join you Mommies?!
Kailey Rose Arrived 3/26/08
Today is day 4 post partum and we survived 2 nights at home with her.
BF is going ok, I engorged BIG TIME Friday night, but now is tender but a lot more tollerable.
Tired, but managing to still get stuff done.
Things get easier,,,,right?
Any tips, advice, or words would be great!!!!!

First off congrats.....believe me, THIS is the toughest time....those first 6-7 weeks were really really tough. If your DD is going through a witching hour and/or having a problem going to sleep, I HIGHLY recommend the DVD, The Happiest Baby on the Block and also the Miracle Blanket....2 things I wish I had as soon as we came home from the hospital.
If your DH is there to help, take turns getting up at night (split it into 2 shifts).
Accept any/all help from people.
Realize YOU need your rest too, you just went through a major experience, as did your body.
DON'T be afraid to tell people you had enough (if they won't leave), or politely excuse yourself & go inside & take a nap.
Get your DD used to the bouncer/swing now.
It's the most wonderful experience, but don't be surprised if one day you're just sitting holding your DD & you just start hysterically crying. I know my hormones were totally out of whack.

PS--I love her name & she is so pretty!

My DH is such a help and I feel bad cause tomorrow he returns to work and I don't want him beat.
Last night at like 2am he put on our wedding photos DVD.....not a good mix when tired, hormonal, and your baby is feeding and not sleeping. I was a balling mess

Welcome & Congrats! I second the miracle blanket--if she likes to be swaddled it is such a help---it helps my DS settle himself so much at night. Everyone says rest when they rest, but it can be hard, I always want to get 'one more thing' done when he finally goes to sleep---but I have learned I need a nap too. Make sure you eat and drink, its so easy to make your needs last at this point, but you can't---especially with BFing. I know you want your DH to be rested, I totally understand--my DH works long hours, but if things get tough, I wake him up---he knows I must really be feeling frustrated if I wake him up and he takes over. Now what I do is pump so he can give DS a bottle once in the evening so I can either go to bed early or have some alone time for a few minutes. I also highly recommend getting outside for walks when you feel up to it---mentally it helped me so much just to get outside! It is so worth all the work, my DS is only 10 weeks old and I can not picture my world without him----its a kind of love I never imagined!

Congrats!!! It definitely gets easier. Learn to sleep when the baby sleeps, even if it means letting other things go. My biggest mistake was trying to clean while the baby slept. I was a zombie. Ask others to run the vacuum if they want to help. Good luck!!!!

Wow, I'm impressed you even had time and brain power to post an introduction. My DS was born 3/19 and I'm just sitting down to do that now.
Hang in there, Dylan is only 11 days old today but already thing are starting to be a bit easier than last week. Those first couple nights were torture for us, but I think now I'm adjusting to the sleep deprivation and BF is still difficult but no longer painful.
Congrats on your beautiful baby girl!

Welcome!!!!  ETA - yes, things get easier, then harder, then easier, then harder.... such is the rollercoaster life of mommyhood - climb aboard, and keep all hands and extremities inside the vehicle
