Jen - counting my blessings...

Being hard on yourself..

I have been at my job for almost 6 mos. now...really like it, get along great with my boss and co-workers. Well something happened today - it was more of a miscommunication than anything - but my boss got annoyed with me and put me on the spot about something. Even though I knew I did everything I could in the situation, she came down on me and of course I am beating myself up over it (its a long story..had to do with something that went on months ago, I was working offsite today and didnt have all my files in front of me and there was a lot of confusion). In the end everything was resolved but she kept coming down on me about 1 particualr thing...why can't I just let it go? It bothers me bc I like working there and I hope they think i am doing a good job....sigh...Chat Icon

I know the feeling. I often beat myself up long after the situation has been resolved.Chat Icon Take heart knowing you did everything you could in the situation and it's over now. You were just caught off guard.

Try to push it out of your mind and enjoy your weekend. By Monday, I'm sure it will be a distant memory anyway.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know it's hard but just let it go... Everything is resolved. Think positive and happy thoughts.

I do the same thing. Just try to take your mind off of it and enjoy the weekend. I'm sure it'll be fine.

Re: Being hard on yourself..

don't be too hard on yourself!! I'm sure your boss was showing her initial reaction a little too easily and she'll get over it. maybe she was like everyone else at my job today and just annoyed for having to come in on a snow day Chat Icon I left working feeling annoyed about a situation too, sometimes it's the people who work the hardest who take things to heart most....I'm sure the care & concern you're having is evident to your boss too......enjoy the rest of your weekend, and just leave work thoughts for Monday!! (I know, easier said than done sometimes, that's why I'm having wine now, to forget about work lol!!

Please try not to be so hard on yourself. I really would feel just the same way you feel right now. Whenever I was put in that situation I would "yes" my boss a lot and let it bother me. AHH...have a couple drinks maybe or pop a good flick. I would vent like crazy to my DH and I'd feel better. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I did vent to DH and told me to stop being a baby Chat Icon Chat Icon Jerk!

Someone above mentioned that sometimes people who work the hardest take things to heart very strongly...so true. Thank you for reminding me of that! Chat Icon

omg i am the SAME way - i come down so hard on myself in regards to work - i work like a DOG and then if i do anything not 100% in my boss' eyes i'm all upset with myself!

it is such a bad habit - i wish i could tell you to break it but i can't so how can i expect you to?!
