We were doing pacis just in the crib for a while, then one day we just stopped. Some DC may have a harder time than others. We got lucky, and DD didn't really complain. Now we are totally paci free.

DS only used it to sleep also. We just took it away and never looked back. I made sure to throw them away so I couldn't break down and give in. He was fine after the first night

I was told to put a pin hole through the pacifier..a speech lady told me this and then they will not enjoy sucking anymore.

My sister just could not get my niece to stop using her pacifer - not matter what tricks she tried. Then for a few weeks before Easter, she started telling her that the Easter Bunny collects the pacifiers and leaves wonderful easter baskets.
The went to have a "breakfast with the Easter Bunny" and when my niece went to have her picture taken, she handed over her pacifier and never asked for it again.
She was about 13 1/2 months at the time
