Damn, cleaning from top to bottom is exhausting!!!
And we only have a 1 bedroom apartment. I can't imagine a whole house.

ugh I totally hear ya....we just went from a 1BR to a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse...and it took an ETERNITY! I'm almost missing the 1 br apt with ONE bathroom! I can't stand cleaning a tub and shower I don't even use!!

oh yeah, I can relate. 3 BR and 2 Bath house. Plus we are doing remodeling, so something is always a mess. But I wouldn't give it up.

I have a 4 bedroom 2.5 bath house with about 3000 sq ft. I cannot even begin to tell you how long it takes me. by the time I finish it's time to start all over again. LOL

Same here and two 10 month olds.
I aim for a room a day.... sort of. If they don't take a nap in the afternoon, I have to do it at night
I have a weekly schedule.

I hear you on that. 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths & a kitchen that we are constantly cooking in.
I'm glad DH demo'd one of the bathrooms...now I don't have to clean it again till its done
I often ask myself what the heck I was thinking when we bought a house this big!

Kelly I hear you on the one less bathroom to clean.
Right now we use our master, the half downstairs but not the hall/kids bath. A few times DH has run in there for a quick visit and I'll just look at him  and say, "Can you walk 15 extra feet so I have one less toilet to clean?" My brother was over for dinner one night and wanted to use it (it's upstairs). I said, "Nah, your a guest, you'll use the 1/2"

I find that if I keep up with the clutter each day....my weekly cleaning doesnt take that long.
I try and wipe down the kitchen and bathroom counters each day so when I do a good cleaning its not that dirty.

I don't know, I just do it here and there. but do a full blown cleaning once a month (base boards, windows, shampooing carpets, waxing wood floors, central air units, mirrors, and on and on... It took me 6 hours to do 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, kitchen, 2 hallways, pantry, livingroom and diningroom. Tomorrow it should only take me 2 hours to do downstairs which is the office, playroom/familyroom, guestroom, bathroom, straighten the storage room and my DH's 'man' cave.
I just have it down what needs to get done and it doesn't take me too long, it's just exhausting while doing it 36 weeks pregnant and having my almost 4 year old trashing it after I just cleaned

this is what i do, too... no matter how tired i am when i get home from work, i try to do one "chore" a day... one day i'll dust, one day i'll do the bathrooms, one day i'll swiffer and vaccum the floors. the kitchen i do a quick wipe down every day after we cook, so when i do a "big" cleaning its not too bad.
i also read somewhere where you should never leave a room without taking something with you to put away... i actually find it really helps keep up with clutter.
i think you just have to get into a routine of doing one thing everyday and breaking it up instead of spending hours all at once doing a big cleaning.

I try to do a big clean of one floor at a time, so I'll spend a whole day doing all the baseboards, windows & stuff on the whole first floor. A few days later when I'm off again I'll do the entire upstairs. I kinda fell like my house is never totally spotless at the same time because the first floor starts to get messed up before I finish the second. Its the best I can do though. Sometimes if I have a vacation week I'll just clean for two days straight to get it all done.
This might actually be the year I hire someone to clean my house.
