Officially Confused
So they hired a new girl to work in my department. The originally gave a description of her job that was completely different then what I do, but also related to my job a little bit. So they I find out her title is exactly my title but with Senior in front of it.
What do I make of this? No one has told me she is my new supervisor and I answer to her. They hired her without my boss the VP of marketing even interviewing her. She is my age, and sounds like she has the same amount of experience. Its really weird.

Re: Officially Confused
I know at my job their are people that have "senior" in front of their name and it is not a higher up position than mine. It was just a way of them getting "promoted" and getting a halfway decent raise. She might have slightly more experience or have come from a place that paid more and thus they needed to bump up her position title to account for giving her more money. HTH!

Same here. "Senior" only means a different pay grade, not even different pay, since the grades overlap. It's possible for a Sr to make less than someone who isn't a Sr. If she had more experience, or they really needed to hire her, they may have enticed her with a title, but nothing to back it up with.
