I don't wanna go
I have this wedding to go to. I've posted before about it. Ok, I'm just going to s u c k it up and go. Then I get a call last minute from one of the brides friends asking me to go to a shower a week before. Apparently, no one is throwing the bride a shower and she felt bad and now wants to plan a quick one a week before the wedding.
Ok, fine, that stinks that no one threw her a shower..I've met the bride exactly once. She's regsitered at Macys and they were wondering why no one bought anything off the registry.
So now I'm getting s u c k e d into the shower too. Shower gift and wedding gift a week apart and I don't even know her and I certainly don't like him. Doing this for DH only.

I believe we only get sucked into things we allow ourselves to be sucked into.
I don't know the backstory with the wedding, but if you made the committment to go to that, that seems like it's more than enough.
If you really feel bad, just send a gift.

I just feel badly for the bride. Her family is not here but I really don't know her.
DH works with him and has been "friends" with him for over 15 years. I really can't stand him but I'm doing it for DH.
The shower!!! I just think this is beyond my scope.

Husband or not, if it was me I probably wouldn't go, unless this was someone I truly wanted to become friends with.

so once again you have to bend over backwards for this azz who never even showed up to your DH's surprise 40th

she's very nice and I have no idea why she's marrying him but I guess she sees something good in him. beats me..it's not her fault that no one is throwing her a shower.
I wouldn't be the one throwing the shower..just attending at someone's house in Queens..with only knowing 3 people.
