moms of 2 under 2, or soon to be...
how and when did you decide that you wanted your children so close together?
DH and i were discussing this last night, and i guess some of it would depend on how this pregnancy goes, but my sisters and i were not close together in age (i am almost 28, middle sis is 25, and youngest sis is 22) and were definitely not close growing up, although our relationships are a little better now.
i want my kids to be closer in age, because i think this will make a difference, and DH is no help because he has no real reference point, since he and his sister are almost 10 years apart.

I knew before we had children that I wanted our kids to be as close in age as possible. My sister and I are 12 months apart and I thought it was great growing up, so we tried to do the same. Our children will end up being 20 months apart.
I also wanted to get these pregnancies done and over with.

We didn't plan to have them 14 months apart, dh and i were thinking more 2-3 years apart like we were with our siblings.
BUT i wouldn't have it ANY other way now. They adore each other and are best friends. Plus we were still in major baby mode when #2 was born, heck i didnt even put my maternity clothes fully away yet.

Exactly the same story for us. I actually still had the bassinet in my room and was just putting clothes on top of it and then thought of just putting it away but that changed . Now I have no maternity or baby gear in my room just in case.

I always knew I wanted them pretty close together and neither one of us were getting any younger... We also got pg really quick with #2, I didn't know that would happen
But I also wanted to basically get the baby stuff out of the way while I was still into it...

DH and I both come from families with kids close in age (my family is 4 kids in 5 years, his family is 4 kids in 7 years). We knew we wanted them close and also wanted to be young(er) parents if we could

Re: moms of 2 under 2, or soon to be...
My brother and I are 6 years apart, him being older. We were raised independently, if that makes sense. We never really came together as a family and did things together. He was always doing his thing while I was doing mine. that was the example I had and I WOULD NEVER do that with my kids. I love my brother b/c he is my brother but we are not close at all. I have always wanted my klids to be close in age. However I got pg and I wasn't married. So when I met my DH, my DD was 4. She waited 7 years to have a sibling. Now she is 8 and will have 2 sisters, since I got pg again right away. I didn't want my older DD to be 7 years apart from Ayla and 10 years from the next baby. And even though she is 7 yerars older I will raise them all together and make sure we all do things together as a family EVEN when she gets older. I don't think there is a perfect age difference between siblings. Whatever works for you and DH is all that matters. IMO, the only thing that matters is how they are raised and brought up. I only say that b/c of the example I had.....or should I say didn't have.

We decided before we got married that we wanted our kids close together. Granted I am still in shock that it happened this fast.
