Daniel Day Lewis and his SAG speech
and to think he never even knew Heath and he has such wonderful things to say about him...

Am I the only one who finds it a little weird? The thing on Oprah seemed nice, a little strange he was so upset since they had never met, but whatever.
But then again on the SAG awards? Seems weird to me that he's so upset over the passing of someone he doesn't know.

It doesn't seem weird to me at all. I didn't know HL either and I will tell you that I (and I know of others that I've spoken to) who are also upset at the fact that HL passed away so suddenly.

Perhaps there's been something in DDL's life that he saw in Heath's that made him see how lucky he is to be alive and have his life ahead of him.

I watched it. I thought it was a lovely sentiment. There are many stars who passed that affects us in one way or another. Have we ever met them.. No. Did I shed tears for them. Absolutely.

Actors touch people's lives in so many ways, even if they never even met them.
As an actor, Daniel Day Lewis saw a talent in Heath that will never be forgotten. I don't find it strange that he is voicing his grief and thoughts about Heath. I'm actually happy to see an actor show their true feelings about something for once.

I guess I'm heartless. I think it's sad, especially for his daughter, but I can't think of a celebrity who passed away that really affected me like that. I guess for me, since it's not impacting my day to day life at all, I don't really think about it that much.

I don't think you're heartless...maybe no one has really impacted your life like that...
I will admit that his death has left me sad this past week. I was also very sad when Steve Irwin died as well.
I think it's just sad when actors have been taken from us too quickly and have left behind small children who will never know them. I think that's what really makes my heart ache.

It gets to me too.
I keep thinking about if he knew he was dying and what his last thoughts were.

I don't think it is strange. Actually my DH before all of this and right after Heath died, said that Heath's acting and the way he got into roles reminded him A LOT of Daniel Day Lewis. Maybe he saw a lot of himself (especially younger) in Heath.
The whole thing just breaks my heart.
