Identity Theft Update #4
So after receiving letters from GE Money Bank not getting approved for a Paypal CC we never applied for, receiving a letter from Paypal for an account we never applied for... today I am getting our stuff together for our taxes and happen to decide to check our Discover card. I see charges for Match.com and Yahoo Personals... I start to get furious at DH then it dawns on me when I see Paypal purchases for items DH never purchased!!! Someone has our Discover card number!!! I call Discover and go thru the whole thing with them. Decide to call the police who say DH must file the claim and he won't be home till Tomorrow. I call the credit agencies again to make sure there are fraud alerts on both our reports. I hope Paypal and DIscover find the SOB who did this cause I want their asses in JAIL!!
ETA: this day has made me start drinking :) Pindar Sweet Scarlet is DELICIOUS!

Sorry to hear this happened to you Karen. My Mother had someone get ahold of her credit card # and started to try to make purchases but her bank picked it up right away luckily. But it still was such an invasive feeling for her. She too kept trying it piece it all together so I can understand you wanting to play detective. I hope there are no repercussions and you can get it all straightened out.

Re: Identity Theft Update #4
Someone opened a credit card in DH's name a few weeks back and had a field day...bought a computer and had a shopping spree. We only found out about it when the credit card co. called looking for it's payment. Amazingly, even though the card was opened in his name by a total stranger which is a crime, they gave us no information b/c of privacy issues
