is your OB responsive to your questions

I'm getting disgusted with my OB... I'm tired of having appts that last 4 hours because of all the waiting, I hate that you can't get a hold of a dr., they close for lunch, everything is double booked, and the sono tech is always gone.

Is this what its like everywhere...?

Re: is your OB responsive to your questions

I love my ob office. My Dr is very receptive to my questions and anytime I call a nurse gets back to me within the hour. They do close for lunch but I guess everyones gotta eat. Where do you live? I use University Associates OBYGN. They are affiliated with Stony Brook.

Re: is your OB responsive to your questions

I live around there - I wanted a OB that delivered out of SB or St. charles.

Right now I'm using one that only works with St. Catherines in Smithtown.

Thanks for the advice.

My drs office is like that. I am still investigating other drs and havent decided if I am going to make a switch. I really like the Stony Brook Midwives.

I understand that they are busy, but c'mon.

I actually haven't seen my real OB in about 3 years.
(I eventually just book with a PA or a Nurse practitioner)
They only booked 3 months in advance - and i could never get her. I figured that her priority was pregnancies... but now i see that is not true. Chat Icon

Re: is your OB responsive to your questions

If you are truly unhappy with your OB change now.

I was feeling this way and procrastinated. One day I went in for an appointment and there was another Dr.

Apparently my OB had decided that it was too expensie to keep her OB insurance and decided to become just a GYN... According to her office she sent all her OB patients letters. Needless to say I never got the memo. After alomost ten years with this Dr. I found out from a new Dr.

Luckily the new Dr. is very good. I actually like him more then I did my old Dr. Very responsive and understanding. The moral of the story is always go with your gut feeling.

I love my Dr. and the office I go to. I was using the same Dr. and going to one of the other offices, but I didn't like th nursing staff there so I changed offices. Waiting 4 hours is rediculous. There is no reason for that! You should be given personal service. After all, you are paying for it! I think doctors forget that sometimes.

If you don't like where you are going, switch now!!

Re: is your OB responsive to your questions

I have to say I love my Dr and everyone in the office. Every time I have a question someone gets back to me right away. I never wait too long in the office for appointments and the sonogram tech is great! I'm in Nassau county so my Dr. is probably too far for you to travel...but good luck and I hope you find someone you really like. Its too important.
