Canister Vacs?

I am actuallly mature enough to want a vacuum for X-mas. My mom is getting it for us and is giving us $500 for it. I'm not against spending a little less and getting something else tooChat Icon So does anyone have any recommendations or links to consumer reviews? Thanks

Sears brand, Kenmore, is very good. Try looking at their products. I have had one for years and it's still working great - over 10years - and my mom just bought one and is very happy. It's just as good as her old Miele.

I love my Kenmore canister vac. It is great. My mom has an electrolux but they are very $$$. Although, I have to say her's is 10+ years old and still going strong and she uses it everyday. The poor thing has taken some abuse.

Re: Canister Vacs?

OK I was leaning towards Kenmore-got some good reviews and my friend has one that she loves. Then I may even have money left over to buy something else

Re: Canister Vacs?

I have an Eletrolux canister my mom has had her's for at least 20 yrs and about 10 yrs ago she thought there was something wrong with hers so she bought another one and then repaired the first one so we had one upstairs and one downstairs. So when we got the house i got the newer model it works great but I am not a huge fan of the canisters. I feel like I am walking a dog or dragging one around with me. I have a Hi ranch house and it seems like the cord on it is very very short I have to keep unplugging and plugging it all over the house and carrying it up and down the stairs is a pain in the butt..

Other than that it is a great great machine.

Yup I love my electrolux canister I got it at fortunoffs 599.99, LOVE IT!!!!! and I have 5 cats and 2 dogs and let me tell you, I vacuum everyday and beat on that machine and it is great! I go through a lot of bags though b/c of the pet hair. but I found a site an allergy site in fact that sells the bags for dirt cheap!

edited to say- my plug is not short and I have an upstairs too, 12 steps in fact and its so light, just as light as my upright oreck its easy to do the steps.
