Clothing
Anyone else find it better to just buy bigger sizes in regular stores, as opposed to maternity cloths.
I bought a bunch of cute tops in small and mediium (the pregnancy style ones), and i like them better than the maternity tops i have.

Re: Clothing
That worked for me for a while but then now my boobs are getting bigger (which I am definetly not complaining about) but they are not really fitting in my small shirts.

Re: Clothing
I recently bought 3 shirts at Banana Republic in Medium (I'm normally an XS or S). They fit great. One of them is an empire waisted shirt and actually looks maternity! I liked them better than anything I saw in maternity stores. I'm not showing yet, just wearing a Bella Band b/c I can't button my pants so I wanted shirts long enough to cover it.

Re: Clothing
I only wore a few maternity shirts during my entire pregnancy, I was able to go up a size and wear mostly cotton shirts and tank tops.

Re: Clothing
I just got a few nice things in Marshalls. Luckily the baby doll style is still "in"!

Re: Clothing
for my first - it was easier up until 7.5 months. the second time I popped earlier.
the best part I found for doing it this way - is that you have regular clothes to wear after the birth and you don't feel bad being in maternity clothes

Re: Clothing
Pants I had not choice but to do maternity... larger sizes were larger in all the wrong places. Some tops are okay, but some also are larger in the wrong places. I'd rather stay with Maternity small... more complimenting to the pregnant frame.

Re: Clothing
I don't like the way bigger clothes fit me and my new body. I prefer to wear maternity tops. I think they flatter me more than bigger sized regular clothing.

Re: Clothing
I picked maternity tops that I can wear after the baby. Like sweaters. You will be able to get away with regular clothers for a little while. But you might find that things will be large on your shoulders and too long on the sleves. I have already grown out of some of my maternity things I bought at 16 weeks. Now I just get them bigger so they will hopefully fit till March.

Re: Clothing
That worked for awhile but as my belly got bigger, I would have had to go up so big on regular clothes to cover my belly that it looked silly on the rest of me. So Maternity looked much better.

Re: Clothing
In the beginning you can get away with regular stuff, but as your belly gets bigger I think you need the extra length that maternity gives you so your belly will be covered--at least I did. In the beginning I was able to get away with wearing pants a size up for a long time. Maternity stuff just wouldn't stay up.

Re: Clothing
im going to have to agree with the OP's those tops are awesome at the beg. and i guess even some sweaters may still fit near the end if they are the really long ones, but maternity tops fit better once you really start showing...my only problem now is that since im tall my mat. shirts arent even long enough for me...they have plenty of room around but not in the length...story of my life i guess! im just wearing DH tops and walking around like a bag lady right now haha

Re: Clothing
I bought a couple of baby-doll type tops that I am still able to wear (I'm 23 weeks).
It doesn't hurt to try things on and see what fits, although I'm thinking the further along you are along, the less and less you would be able to wear regular clothes.
