At what point....
if you've already done so
did you ask godparents to be godparents
did you do it in person?
if you haven't done so yet, when are you planning on doing so?

Re: At what point....
I want to wait until the baby is born - immediately after he/she is born- probably when they come to the hospital or house to visit.
However, I just e-mailed my immediate family with the baptism date (June 08) b/c some are out of town/out of country and my SIL said she'd "try" (which is odd b/c she's here for everything else). Anyway, she's our pick for godmother, so we may have to ask her sooner just so she does more than try.

Re: At what point....
We will do it a few weeks after the baby comes, we honestly havent finalized it yet but are pretty sure who we are going to ask.
For Our godchildren we were always asked in person and for all but one we were asked after the child was born.

Re: At what point....
I asked the godparents when I found out the sex of the baby. When I showed them the sono picture, I asked them if they wanted to see a pic of their god daughter.

Re: At what point....
With my first we kind of just assumed/expected my sister and his brother. We said, hoped and sort of asked them It was before she was born over the phone (we live 1000 miles apart). for this child we will be asking the godparents over Christmas while we are in Ny visiting. Got them each an engraved ornamanet asking...

I'm thinking about having ornaments made up from the mall kiosks that say Will you be my godmother/father? Either that or just telling them.

Re: At what point....
The baby is 11 days old and we still haven't asked yet. We know who we want, but just haven't asked. I am a little superstitious and wanted to wait until the birth.

Re: At what point....
I am 12 weeks. My little sister already because to tell her we were having a baby, I gave a little box with some things in it & one item was a baby t shirt saying "If you thnk I'm cute, you should see my godmother!!".
As for the god father, it will be one of my brothers, likely the youngest, but we are making him wait it out because he keeps asking if he is the choice!!
My brothers & sisters are pretty young and impatient!!!

Re: At what point....
if you know who you are having I would ask them now - why not? If it's going to change for some reason then I would hold off.
We asked our godparents when we told them we were pregnant. That's actually how we told them we were pregnant. I got them both "World's Greatest Godmother/father" T-shirts. A little cheesy - but I couldn't think of anything else at the time!

Re: At what point....
It really doesn't matter when you ask them, I asked my best friend to be the God mother of my baby when I was 3 months pregnant, I called her up at work--lol We asked my brother when we saw him on Thanksgiving.

Re: At what point....
My sister and I always knew we would be each others first-borns godmothers.
It was actually how I told her I was pg. I said "you are going to be a godmother!" and she flipped.
My brother was asked to be godfather towards the beginning of the pg.

We definitely know one set of godparents that we are going to have.
The 2nd set we are having trouble deciding, we are trying to avoid family drama and hurt feelings.

Re: At what point....
When I shared my PG news, my sister raised her hand and said "ooh I call Godmother!" so I guess that one is taken care of. DH will probably ask his brother casually at some point. He & his wife asked us to be their DD's Godparents when she was still PG, so I doubt DH will wait until DS comes around. It is sort of assumed who it will be anyway.
