Being Induced
Well, went to the doc today and am not dialated at all, nothing going on. I am a little bummed So we check in to the hospital on Sunday at 7pm to start cervadil and then Monday they will give me the pitocin and break my water. I am happy we know she'll be here Monday at some point, but a little sad things didn't happen on their own. I am also bummed because I am the most impatient person in the world and I have to wait til 7 at night to go in on Sunday. I swear I am going to have hubby sitting outside the hospital by 4pm.

Re: Being Induced
I'm confused, if you are disappointed to be induced, is there a reason it has to happen? Looks like you'll be just at your due date.

I have GD and they are not letting me go past Monday. I am just bummed, really thought things were happening, but nothing. Just scared now that I am going to end up with a c-section.

I so know what you mean - I was there when I had DD. But I was 2 weeks late
But I wasn't dilating or anything. When was the last time they did a sono? I didn't go into labor because we ended up finding out that DD was sunny side up and wasn't going to enter the birth canal
that she decides before Sunday night that she wants to make an entrance

Re: Being Induced
I am sorry you might need to be induced, but you never know. Your little one could come on his/her own.
My doctor told me the same thing--in my case it's due to my age. At first I was a little upset that this might not happen naturally (plus I hear induction is much more painful), but now I sort of like knowing when this pregnancy will end, at the latest. And if it's better for my child, it's okay with me.
Well, here's some {{{{{{{labor vibes}}}}}} for you, and try eating eggplant parm, walking a lot, do some squats, and BD. None of it can hurt anyway!

(plus I hear induction is much more painful), !
I do not know about that since I have nothing to compare it to but I will tell you that with an induction, you can get the epidural as soon as you want so I do not know how it can be more painful unless you did nto want an epi.
I got my epi when I was only a fingertip dialated (I never got past that stage) whereas with a vaginal delivery, I think you have to be 4 centimeters before you get the epi.

Re: Being Induced
My sister wound up having the Cedavil because she wasn't dilating, and once her labor started....she gave birth about 4 hours later naturally! I never had any contractions, so they gave me Pitocin and I only labored for 7 hours before giving birth naturally! Hopefully, things will move just as quickly for you and you'll have your baby soon!!

Re: Being Induced
Don't worry...induction isn't always a joy and it has an increased risk of a c-section! Good Luck!

Re: Being Induced
I had a fantastic induction experience, was only at 37w5d and delivered vaginally. I thought for sure I would end up with a c-section, but I didn't!

Not always true it depends on the doctor. Most will give IV medication first if you're not that dilated.
I think why people say an induction is more painful is because you are stuck in the hospital strapped to monitors with limited mobility rather than the comfort of your own home when labor begins

Re: Being Induced
Thanks girls...I know that no matter what everything will be ok. I am just the biggest worry wart and this is one of the biggest things I have ever had to worry about in life. I just hyped myself up, thiinking I'd go in to the doctor today and they would tell me I was dialated and head to the hospital, but no such luck. All that matters is that my little girl gets here and is healthy!!! Thank you!!!

same here! I got my epi at 2cm. It was heaven! Even better - I got my epi before the piciton (sp?) so I pretty much slept during the worst part of labor.

My aunt was induced for her GD and gave birth within 7 hours of induction to both of her kids. I know it stinks but you will be OK hang in there

Re: Being Induced
I know how you are feeling. I will also be induced on my due date - Nov 30th - and whats worse is that it likely will be a c-section since the dr. thinks I made no progress because the baby can't fit through the canal. All that matters is a healthy baby. no matter how she comes! And, knowing the date, kinda feels nice too

Re: Being Induced
also, just wanted to add, induction by itself is not what increases the risk of c-section. Its just that a lot of times (% wise) if people are induced its because of a reason (like mine is the baby may not be able to pass through canal, GD, the mommy didn't naturally contract) and many of those reasons lead to c-sections. But, if you were perfectly well (your body and baby are capable of laboring and birthing) than there are no statistics or anything that shows induction would increase c-section. I guess what I am trying to say, that its not necessarily that induction leads to c-section, its just that many woment that are induced have some other issues that lead to c-sections

Re: Being Induced
I want to just say that I was induced because I had GD too. Honestly, I felt the same way as you... I wanted to experience the whole "Oh it's time!" thing but after going through it planned out, I wouldnt want it any other way. It was nice to eat a big dinner, say goodbye to my dog, straighten my hair, etc. because I knew what time it was all going to happen.
ETA: I did not need a C section or even an episiotomy.
