My big brother had me in tears last night

My older brother is in the navy, has been since I was a sophomore in hs, but we still remain very close, because we are only 3 years apart. He currently is in Orlando FL, recruiting, after doing 4 tours overseas, he opted for a job that he knew he wouldnt be deployed again, he was just done being away from his wife and 7 year old son ( he was away for 4 years of his sons life )

Well yesterday my mom called to tell me that she was talking to him about the new baby, and that he started to cry. He was supposed to come to our new house for thanksgiving, along with my parents, but he has to work that day now, and hes worried that he will never be able to come here and spend time with his new niece/nephew. Hes upset because he knows dhs brother can get time off whenever he wants because he works for the family, and can come often, and that my other brother is moving 15 mins away, that our new baby is going to know and love them, and not know him. He totally broke my heart....

Dh and I havent talked about godparents yet, but I just started thinking, while typing this actually, that maybe I should ask my brother and his wife to be the godparents, I know it would mean the most to them, and that way they will always have a bond with the baby. What do you ladies think?

i think that would be very nice - what do u think ur dh would say to that? we chose my brother and sister in law to be our son's godparents. i have 4 brothers and they all live in NY, but we know that this pair goes above and beyond all the time and if needbe, would be great parents to our child. the next one (ha, i'm thinking next and my son's only 16 days old ) anyway, the next one will go to another brother and possibly one of his sisters...

do what would work best for you, but i'm sure he'll love the honor!!!!

Your brother sounds like an amazing, kind, generous man and I THANK him for protecting our country and giving up so much to do this.

I think making him and his wife godparents is an AWESOME idea!!!!
