Hospital Choices
I have a choice of three hospitals:
Oceanside
Mercy
Winthrop
Any thoughts on which one is best?

I did the same thing. I wanted to deliver at Winthrop and my best friend's ob delivers their, so I switched to him.

My OB delivers at S. Nassau and Winthrop. I personally like S. Nassau because it's smaller and you definately get a private room. All three are good hospitals. I know people who delivered at all three and all had decent experiences.

Don't know anything about Oceanside, but between Mercy and Winthrop, I would choose Winthrop.

I haven't had any experience with any of them. But, one of my close friends is a delivry room nurse and has worked at a few hospitals. She says that Winthrop is the best and would push anyone to go there. (She is disappointed I'm not delivering there...but I'mjust too far away!)

I delievered 2 at Winthrop and had no problems at all. they were super busy both times, but I had a private room the first time (at my request) and the second time, I was there only 2 days and didn't get a roommate (I lucked out).

Love Winthrop too. Plus they have a very good nicu. Not that you ever want to need it but it's good to know that it is there.

I chose my OB/GYN the first pregnancy because I heard Winthrop was so great. I didn't have a great experience there at all, but I know many people who have. It could've just been my bad luck. They were super busy, I got very little personal attention, had an issue with the anaesthesiologist, there was only one lactation consultant on duty to service all the new moms who were bf, etc.
I changed doctors and had my second at South Nassau, and couldn't have been happier. It's much less busy, the nurses and lactation consultants were so attentive, and now with new wing w/private rooms standard, I will definitely choose to have my third there when I get pregnant again.

I delivered Andrew at Mercy and will not be going back there when I get PG again.
I had a long talk with my Dr about all 3 hospitals because I have the same choices and he suggested Winthrop over all three of them. And gave me his reasoning for liking Winthrop over the rest. So when the time comes, I will be going there.
