how much baby clothing shopping did you do before your shower?
everytime i look at stuff, i keep thinking i should wait until my shower to see what i get first.......or should i be buying stuff now??!! my shower is about 5 weeks before my due date if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I bought a ton of stuff. I was out of control. When it came time to my shower I pretened that the clothes were from my younger DD.

I'm going to try not to buy to much. Only if it's something I love that may not be around when my shower is. I bought my first outfit last night...it was so cute I couldn't resist.

I didnt get much clothes at my shower, but once my child wasd born we have a whole closet full. Some is going to go to waste so dont buy too much

I didn't buy any because I didn't want to have to worry about duplicates or too much of one size. As it is, I am set with 0-3 clothing. So now after my shower I've been getting 3-6 stuff.
And my shower was 2 weeks before my c-section.

Not really true. DS wore NB until 3 months, 0-3 until 5 months and is 6.5 months and not even close to growing out of 3-6 clothes.
To answer the OP's question, I didn't buy anything before. After he was born I went out and bought some NB stuff and I am really happy I did b/c he wore is for a long time. After he was born I got a TON of clothes, but for some reason, a lot of it was 6-9 month and we aren't close to wearing it now
Someone gave me clothes up to 4T

very little, maybe 2 or three outfits. I got a ton of clothes. After my shower I got a few more outfits, but she was set for over a yr. I still have outfits with tags on them.

Exactly..you just never know how big or how fast they will grow.
I still buy, but I'll buy different sizes, even of the same pj or onesie that I really love.

Between the things I got at my shower and when she was born, she didn't need a thing for about a year. IT was crazy.

I didn't buy anything but mainly because I was superstitious and we didn't find out the sex of the baby. I did buy a couple of outfits about 1 week before I was due.

Between me, my mom, my friends, my stepmom....Lets just say this baby is totally set for a while. Went a little crazy but had fun doing it all. Plus we got a lot of hand me downs too. Thank God my little girl has 2 closets in her room.

I didn't buy any clothes before my shower. I would wait to see what you get. Also remember that people also will buy you clothes after the baby is born. We received a ton of clothes as gifts after our baby was born.

Ditto. I went a little crazy and so did my sister plus we got sooooo many clothes at my shower...I don't think there is anyway she can wear everything more than once if that. We also got alot of hand me downs in excellent condition. If I had to do it over I would wait.

I've bought one or two cute things, but I won't be buying anything else until after she's born. One of my closest friends had a baby girl in October who is already outgrowing her 0-3 clothes at only 1 month old, and another friend had a baby girl at the beginning of this month, so I know I stand to inherit a lot.
And my baby's godmother is a compulsive shopper so I'm really not worried about clothes for a while.

Nothing. Partially because I wanted to see what I got at the shower, and also because our 20 week sonogram left slight doubt in my mind about the sex of our baby. We had another last week, and now that we have no doubt we are having a , I went and bought some extra things we needed that were definitely for a boy and not so unisex.

originally i wasn't going to get anything until after the shower...but from what i hear people usually buy clothes that the baby will wear outside so they can see them wearing it but not undershirts.
my friend just had her baby and she said she goes through 3-4 undershirts a day b/c her DD will split up milk and she would have to change his undershirt to make sure he's not uncomfortable.
so instead of waiting for the last minute (and since i'm having trouble walking too long already), went to tanger this weekend and brought 5 onesies, 5 undershirts, 3 footsies, 2 cute bibs, and 2 set scratch-free mittens(total 6 pairs), and 2 layette set (shirt/pants/hat). that is all i'm buying now.
