Shower Ideas
My good friend's baby shower is in a few weeks and I'm helping her stepmom plan it. We are looking for some ideas for activities to keep people occupied. But the mom-to-be said no games. Anyone have any suggestions or cute ideas for a shower?
thanks

Re: Shower Ideas
My cousin had cut out small papers in the shape of bottles and rattles and placed them on each table with pens and asked every guest to write down any advice they wanted to give to the mom to be...then she collected them and put it in a treasure box.

Re: Shower Ideas
Here's an activity that I always thought was nice (can be done while gifts are being opened):
You could pass out blank cards inside of enovelopes (depending how many people are coming, one per person or one per group of 2 or 3). Each envelope should be labeled 1 through 10 (or higher if you'd like).
Each person/group should decorate the blank card and make it a birthday card for the baby for the year listed on the outside envelope. At the end of the party, give the mom-to-be all the envelopes (sealed). She should give one card to her child every year (for the age labeled on the envelope).
Also, you can buy white onsies and puffy paint. Let the guests decorate a onsie for the baby.

Re: Shower Ideas
Here's a game that I played at one shower which wasn't annoying, and I told my sis that we could do:
Every guest starts out with a # of safety pins...
During the entire party, if you are in conversation with a person, and they utter the word BABY , the person who spoke the word has to forfeit one of their safety pins to the person who they were in conversation with.
At the end of the day, the person with the most pins wins!

Re: Shower Ideas
At my baby shower my mom bought a bunch of scratch off lotto tickets and brought a kitchen timer. She set the timer for every few minutes and whoever's gift was being opened when the timer went off got a ticket. It kept people interested during the long process of opening gifts. It was lots of fun.

Re: Shower Ideas
I think you should pressure her to have some game to entertain people while watching the painful process of gift opening. Baby showers are better than bridal, but 1-2 hours, watching someone open gifts is rough. As a guest, I like the games. That's me though- she could also have everyone not wrap the gifts, or wrap in clear cellophane.
