Antibiotic - scared to take
went to gyno yesterday for my sono and she also found that i have a bit of bacteria infection.
she gave me antibiotic to take. it is safe for me to take according to her and also my pharmistic. but i'm scared to take it further (only took 2 times so far) cuz heard from a few people that i'm not suppose to take any antibiotic when i'm pregnant.
Here is what i read from webmd.
***** Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug. It should not be used during the first 3 months of pregnancy and used only with caution during the last 6 months, unless your infection has not improved on other antibiotics. *****
what would you do? i'm afraid it may cause birth defect. i'm 30weeks.

Re: Antibiotic - scared to take
Your Dr wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't safe- they know more than WebMD. Also- stay away from WebMD. And a bacterial infection is far more dangerous for your baby than an atibiotic.

Re: Antibiotic - scared to take
I took antibiotics twice already and I'm only 11 weeks!! The DR.'s know what you can and cannot take. They wouldn't harm your baby. The bacteria infection could possibly hurt the baby though...so I would def take them!

Re: Antibiotic - scared to take
If your MD wrote the script that means that taking the antibiotic is less risky to baby than not taking it. People you have heard from are NOT your doctor.
Think about how much worse this bacterial infection will get if you don't finish taking the antibiotic and how much more dangerous a serious infection that could land you in a hospital could be to the baby!!
Also, not to freak you out or anything, but the MRSA staph infection that is all over the news is a result of people taking antibiotics without finishing the entire prescription. You started it - finish it!

I agree with everyone else. Your doctor wouldn't prescribe you something you shouldn't take.

ITA... I had an infection that the doc had to give me antibiotics for when I was in my 4th month, and the paperwork from CVS said almost the same thing about my meds that webmd said about yours. BUT, because my ob was the one who prescribed the meds, I knew that taking the meds was the right thing to do....

Re: Antibiotic - scared to take
I would take it, especially since you had confirmation that it's okay from both the doctor and the pharmacist. Also, at 30 weeks this is not as likely to cause birth defects.
I know how you feel though-I had to take antibiotics for an ear infection around 4 1/2 months, and I didn't want to, but it also didn't seem good to walk around with an infection for a number of months. These things can get worse, and you are better off taking the drugs. Your health and well being is important also!
