dh's nephew got fired because of a racial slur!
dh has an 18 y-o nephew who has had a rough life and now lives with my fil. the kid has been unemployed for a long time. he finally got a job in a warehouse.
today he came over and was talking to dh. i overheard dh ask, "so, what happened?" his nephew went on to say how there was a young girl who was in his way as he was moving stuff. she didn't move. he, then, said, "move you da mn 'n-word'"
a few days later, he had a minor mishap and was fired.
w t f!!!! how could the n-word not be enough to get fired on the spot!!!!!???
edited to clear up my final point. sorry for my horrid grammar.

etd. to agree with you. It's a shame it had to even come to that.
There isn't a chance it would be - nor should be - tolerated in the workplace.

Actually I completely disagree. There isn't a chance it would be - nor should be - tolerated in the workplace.
I agree. I do think he should have been fired on the spot.

It sux he lost his job but, if that was the only word he could think of to get someone to move out of the way then he deserved it.

I think she's saying she's surprised he didn't get fired immediately after using the n-word.
He was given "probation" and then was fired after a slight mishap.
I do agree though, it's 2007, absolutely should not be tolerated in any place at all, no excuses, including the workplace.
Hopefully, he's learned his lesson the hard way.

I had to fire someone about 2 months ago for that very same thing. it wasnt done on the spot because the victim didnt tell us about it we got an angry phone call from her mother the next morning and by that afternoon the other employee was fired. that should never be tolerated in a workplace even if it is kidding around!
