yes... try not to do everything in one trip, its very overwhelming. Do the big stuff one day, then all the little things on another day. Trust me, it will provent you from bursting into tears in the middle of the store. Can you tell I'm speaking from expierence?

if you can, bring a friend or relative who has had a baby recently. best thing i did was bring my sister. she saved us from registering for a lot of useless crap. good luck and have fun.

I registered for everything online. I read all of the reviews and found it to be a lot less overwhelming than being in the store.

I read my Baby Bargains book before going so I had an idea of what I wanted. I also made a trip or 2 before actually registering to see what they had. Then I took DH with me to finally register for the big stuff...then the next night I took my mom and my brother's fiance with me to register for the little stuff.
A lot of trips, I know, but it was less stressful this way. DH has no patience when I can't decide on something so when we went I showed him 2 pack and plays I liked (because I was there arleady and knew which ones I liked) and we picked of of them.

I agree. It was such a huge help to have an expert there with me.

I sorta agree. Although I would not attempt to do all the big stuff in one day. Picking a stroller DH said was harder than choosing a car.
I think we did ours in about 3 trips total. The first time, we did get overwhelmed.
Also if possible go after work, the store isnt as crowded and the staff is more accessible to help with questions.

We did a TON of it on-line. So much more relaxing to sit with a nice cup of coffee and go through stuff. I had also bookmarked the Baby Bargains book, so a lot of the big stuff I already knew what we were going to get - just had to decide on the pattern.

I went to two different stores, and spent the entire day just trying to decide on a car seat, stroller, high chair, and pack n play.

I did it in two trips, and also did some online. I read my baby bargains book, but also read the reviews on the website.
It helped not do everything in one day...it gets very overwhelming.

I did a lot of research with Baby Bargains and simply registered for that item when I got there.
The worst part at Babies R Us is that they start you in the safety area, which was like staring into space. That started us off on the wrong foot.
Maybe you should start somewhere else....like bedding....
