What do I need for the first few months?

We are hoping to be in the house by the time the baby is 2-3 months old.

What do we need right away, what can we hold off on?

For furniture, we only ordered a dresser and the crib.

We did not get a nightstand, mirror etc because we don't know what we are having and we don't have the room for it in a 1 bedroom.

We are doing without a changing table. I've actually never seen one used in my family, and we have a lot of kids in it.

For the first 2-3 months all you need is a bassinet, a bouncy chair, and maybe a swing.

Don't buy a changing table -- they take up way too much space and you can use the floor, couch or wherever you would like until you are in a house. Don't bother buying the high chair yet either, you won't use it until closer to 6 months.

This is a perfect list of items.

We used the pack n play. It has a bassinet and a changing table for up to 15lbs. It worked well for us!!!

We are in a 1br with DS right now and will be until he is 3 mos - at which point we will have a house and much more space. We ordered the furniture but are not having it delivered until we move. We have a Bassinett in our bedroom (it has wheels though so we often use it in the living room too) and a swing, bouncy seat and changing table in our living room area. I wasn't going to get the changing table but I am so glad I did. Its not a big one with drawers underneath - just shelves where we store almost everything we need for changing, bathing etc. I find it MUCH more difficult to change him on other surfaces - and, he loves the changing table.

ETA: For the closet we got this koala baby organizer from babies r us that is perfect - since he doesn't have his own closet but, it is like he does cause it separates out all of his stuff.

That sounds interesting. Thanks for that idea.
