Registered Sex Offender
When I first moved to NY just over a year now my first place in Bayport had a Registered Sex Offender living next door to me. I lived in a apartment complex at that time. Every so often I like to check and see who's living in my area and one day and I had a big surprise and not a good one. So after some calling and complaining I kick that mother F. er right out of Bayport :)

There was one living in the complex down the road from me. I just checked and he no longer comes up. I wonder if he got kicked out. I wouldn't want one of these creeps living in my apt. complex, hanging out at the pool, the playground, etc.

They are always on the registry, even if their probation is over. It will stay with them forever. Perhaps this person moved, I don't really know.
I stand corrected: It's 10 or 25 years depending on the crime and lifetime for sexual offenses against children.

I use this website all the time, just to see who moved into my area.
ETA: I just also wanted to mention this as well. Not only do people have to worry about adult sex offenders, but most people don't think about Juvenile Sex Offenders as well. I am a therapist for Juvenile Sex Offenders and it has made me jaded and much more careful around ALL people, not just adults.

Totally NOT defending sex offenders but...
Sometimes you don't know the situation. I have one down my block and when he was at a party (21 years old) he hooked up w/ a girl he thought was older (15) who gave him a BJ. It only happened that time as far as I know, but he is now a registered sex offender. I am not afraid of him whatsoever - he and his family have lived there for years - and I certainly wouldn't try to have him run out of the neighborhood.

I know you are not defending sex offenders but as a Mother of 3 precious daughters I dont want to live by one

I'm more worried about the ones who haven't been caught and registered yet.... The one you kick out may open a spot for a new one that is worse, and nobody suspects him (or her) yet....

i did a search on some of my past addresses, and some of them are living pretty close to schools. I thought that wasn't allowed.
I forget how far they're supposed to be.
