Bumping as a reminder.

If anyone is in, I'm going for 3 before Wednesday.

So far DH has been extra mushy. On Saturday, he went to my mom's house & weeded her horribly overgrown backyard and then instead of having dinner at our house, he asked me to bring the ribs he was making over to her house.Chat Icon

The little things I did were:
-Made his coffee on the weekend.
-Rave about his cooking (it was rave-worthy, but I often forget).
-Tell him he looked damn adorable in a new shirt he's wearing (also rave-worthy).

my 3 things:

*1- not b*tch/nag about little things or be sarcastic

*2- give him a few days to quit smoking for new year's (his decision) before saying anything about it

*3- do laundry and make him dinner this week

OK- I'm in.....
This week I VOW to:
Have the house clean by the time he gets home (if you saw the kind of housekeeper I am, you'd understand)
Initiate Chat Icon at least twice
Set up his coffee for the next morning.

Bumping because eh...I needed a reminder this week.Chat Icon

Ok here are mine for the weekend:

- Clean the house
- Make his coffee in the am
- Look into low-cholesterol options for dinner (not actually COOK them because that would be cruel, but I'll show them to him to cook)
- Load this stupid computer program & LEARN it so I can help him with something for his band

The last is going to be the bane of my existence considering I have more than enough work for my job this weekend, but I'll give it a shot - or at least fake it really well.Chat Icon Chat Icon

i love this! i need to try it.

DH really does so much for me and because i am stressed i often find myself snapping at him or overreacting about little stuff that doesn't even matter. he NEVER complains about having to work tons of overtime or cooking dinner when i need a break - he offers to help more often than not. i really need to recognize his efforts, because he always compliments me on mine Chat Icon

I have to shake things up a bit.

etd. I do have to admit I flinched when I saw it was bumped again as I've debated deleting it numerous times, but am still resisting.

Oof. This hit me kind of hard too.

Chat Icon

I was upset about things being clean and him not doing things "my way" with DS.

When today I would give anything for him to be able to get off the chair on his own or even pick up DS.

We all complain about the little things with our SOs. Just like having cancer doesn't nominate him for sainthood, complaining about the little things doesn't mean you loved him or appreciated any less during those easier times.

We are all praying that you'll be back to bitching about him not cleaning up after himself someday soon. In fact, we look forward to it.Chat Icon

I totally agree.

I'm usually the first to say that whatever someone is going through is hard in their own life in that time.

And I remember being VERY VERY mad at the time.

But with some perspective on my own life, I really wish I had had more patience.

Someone said something to me the other day that I've been using to help me that may help all of us who are lacking in the patience department.

Before you blow up about something, stop and think:

"Will the thing that I'm about to get mad about matter tomorrow?"

And if not, let it go or at least speak about it calmly.

That's been helping me a tremendous amount lately with letting the "little things" go.

Barb...this is the 2nd time I have bumped this thread and both times I asked myself if I should've FMed you first to ask if it was ok. I'm sorry that I didn'tChat Icon but I do know that indirectly, you have made my marriage a better one and for that I thank youChat Icon I bumped this today to help Tilde (and myself).

I dk what I can add to this or if people agree with me. If they do not its o.k. I am at peace with it.
Ii went into marriage with 2 eyes open and closed one after.
The lid on the toilet left up does not matter,
clothes on the floor do not matter.
bla bla
Mind you I will say something but I live thinking and maybe its morbid but we can all walk out the door angry and never see each other again.
Life is too short-smell the roses, appreciate the good the bad and the ugly.
I will apologize for petty things (not big things) because of this.
I live my life by "Paying it forward"
I try to make memories goos ones when I am ready to drop dead...like now..
I want my kkids and dh to love the smell of fresh cut grass and so on....
Am I making sense or rambling?
I try to to what I can for him-I love him more then 21 years ago---thats right...21 years...married 16.
ihe is my best friend.
This does not go without saying he has no problem tooting 24-7 which grosssssssses me out but.........its a small thing!
I try to make his favorite meals-get things for him Ii hear him mention during theh year yada yada..and he never asks for anything in return.
I gotta love this smelly man...lmao

I am in on this. I can be very self centered in our marriage. So this week I did

1. I didnt make a big deal about nye when we were supposed to have a big night and we are now going to his mothers.

2. I made a night away to Atlantic City

this topic is great...we actually did an experiment called "The Love Dare"..which is a movie experiment based on a book...the movie, was alil cliche, and kind of not our thing, the book, has changed our lives..

when the OP stated that the "love part comes later" thats exactly right...

when you married this person you loved them..you gotta put into it exactly what you wouldve put into it back then,
even without "talking about it, nagging about it, etc" your spouse is gonna see feel and notice a difference in you, and it can only beget good things for the two of you..

i STRONGLY recommend this book, it definately OUTLINES a way to make things work in the same way the OP explained..
its called "the love dare"

good luck to all of you, and God bless all of our marriages ;)

Re: The Husband (or Wife) Experiment - bumped, new posts start pg 6

Just read this for the first time today and I think its a great idea!!!! My DH and I fight all the time over stupid sh*t, so this could be good for us.

1) not call him an @sshole in the middle of supermarket as I did today over pearsChat Icon

2) clean out the fridge (usually his job)

3) match up his socks (he usually just leaves his mismatched in a bag)

4) hug him more

5) BD and not begrudingly

6) Save the Suduko puzzles from the paper for him (he used to do them everyday before DS)

7) ATTEMPT to cook dinner

8) play with his hair - hes like a puppy, he loves that and I probably havent done it in 2 years

9) not be a b*tch for at least a full day

10) Just put his crap away in the bathroom that he leaves ALL over without making a big deal of it.

Really glad this was bumped 2 years after its OP.

but basically, I am missing something from him, but I haven't been doing what I know I could be doing to get it....so I am starting with me.
