Re: 2nd baby showers

It would be unnecessary for me. Everyone was so generous with the first baby, I wouldn't want them spending more money. After you have the baby people send so many presents anyway.

I agree - there was really nothing we needed for the 2nd baby. Many outfits, etc were brought over once she was born.

Re: 2nd baby showers

My friend's daughter is having a second boy, and she wanted to give her a shower again, only 2 years after the first. I told her that I didn't think it was appropriate to have another shower, but she said that the couple doesn't have alot of money, and she wants to do something so that the daughter can get those "disposable-types" of things that she will need for the second baby. So, we agreed to put together a "Diaper Party" where people can bring things like diapers, wipes, onesies, receiving blankets, burpie cloths, etc. instead of those big ticket items that she still has from the first baby.

Re: 2nd baby showers

In my honest opinion, I think people get crazy with these things.

I was reprimanded once for my view on these and told "its a BABY, who cares if people want to celebrate it" but you know what? When you have babies, and friends and family have babies, I don't understand multiple showers. People spend so much money on the first, it is unnecessary in my opinion to go through it all again.

Like another poster said......people always stop by in the hospital or home after a baby is born with gifts if they choose. That is nice, and the way to do it (IMHO). I do not want a second shower, I would never ever ask that of all my friends and family who have already been so generous to us.
