I had NO CLUE! Even though I had taken health my mother never explained THIS to me and health never prepared me for it! The site of it made me ill

yea, i had a good idea. i have 2 older sisters so there were really no surprises. i came out of the bathroom and told my mom who was in the kitchen with 3 of my aunts...she then decides to announce it to everyone! i was mortified!

Uggh. This brings back such horrible memories. First time I got AF I was in class at school. I was wearing white pants. By the time I made it to the nurses office, it was EVERYWHERE. Everyone knew what had happened to me. I was so freaking embarassed!!!!!!

Ohh, that is so terrible! Thank god I got it for the first time at home. My mom told me what to expect, so I wasn't frightened, but I was shocked. I called her and she came in, gave me a pad, cried a little, then slapped me (a tradition that my gramma did to her).

i had been waiting for it, even praying for it since i was almost the last out of my friends.
i would ask my sister all the time, maybe this is it? maybe i got it in the shower and didnt notice?
my sister assured me that i would know. . .but when it happened. . . i just screamed and cried i couldnt think of what it was. . .it just didn't click.
i think i thought it would be like on drop and call it a day HA!

I had horrible cramps unlike any pain I had ever felt before and they kept me up the entire night, I remember getting out of bed to put a pad on and thinking I was either dying or getting my period. When it finally arrived in the morning, I remember feeling thrilled—first because I wasn't dying, and second because I was a woman! Lol.

I had the same thing! cramps so bad i threw up! it was awful! and i continued to get horrible cramps until i went on the pill...

I was the last in my little 'group' of friends to get my boobs AND my period- but when it did finally happen, I was in such shock/denial that I naively thought "Oh it'll go away in the morning". LOL- 7 days later it finished. There was something about the ammount that was just shocking. I was just truly in denial. This amused my mother a great deal and she made SUCH a production of telling my dad that they had a little woman...

Yes, somehow, I don't remember how, I knew what it was at 8 years old. I remember two years later when everyone else had to watch "the movie" my mother spared me the experience since I already had the body of a swimsuit model and was plagued with AF for two years at that point

I had a similar first experience as well....I distinctly remember being in a hotel room on a family vacation writhing around in bed all night because i never had cramps like that......I really thought i was dying too

I remember I thought I had stomach pains & thought I just had to go to the bathroom. I looked down at my panties & was shocked. I called my mother. Who looked equally shocked when I told her I go my period.
I had read "Are You There God it's Me Margaret" enough to know what was going to happen

I had an idea, my mom told me about it in great detail...plus she wanted me to be prepared b/c she wasn't, my grandmother never told her about AF, so when she got hers she thought she was dying
