Please help calm me down...

Once again here I am with the neighbor drama. Trust me, I'm just as tired of posting as you may be of hearing it, but I need to VENT!

She was gone for a week and had her mother staying there. Well..that wasn't pleasant. Her mother made even MORE noise than her and don't let me get started on her son. I did and said nothing..because it's gotten to the point where I felt why bother!

Fast forward to why I need help calming down. She's getting married on Saturday and came down to tell us. She spoke with DH and told him "we can expect to hear noise that morning because she has family coming, photographers etc". Ok fine..no problem, it's your wedding..it's expected.

I'm really TRYING to remain civilized!!! BUT.. please tell me why would you bother telling us to expect noise on Saturday, when everyone is HERE now!!!! I can't even BEGIN to tell you how much worse it has gotten. They have a TON people including kids staying with them and it seems they are up until 2:30am and then wake up at 6:00am and start with their sh**, whether it be the kid running, or them stomping - which is walking for them, moving, vacuuming, hammering!!

I'm 9 months pregnant now and am having a VERY hard time sleeping (not their fault). When I get to bed finally at 3:30am and am woken up at 6am...to the sound of her DAMN son running and bouncing a basketball..! you better believe I'm peed off!!!

I've had it!!! I can't wait for Saturday to come and go and everyone gets the HELL out!! Then I want to see what EXCUSES are going to be given!!

I'm gonna make sure I'm up and out EARLY on Saturday so I don't have to deal with this crap!

VENT OVER!

ETA: WUUUU SAAA!

I am so sorry you are going through that. I know how unbearable it is to have noisy neighbors. It is such a hassle, but have you considered moving out at some point, although right now obviously isn't possible?

I remember when I lived in an apt, every time my upstairs neighbor was blasting music and her kid was screaming, jumping around, and it felt like he was roller skating on my head, I would start to look at ad's for other places, even thought we couldn't move out for months. It really distracted me and made me feel better. Or what about buying those Bose noise canceling headphones in the meantime? It might be worth a shot.

I agree...

Unfortunately, this is part of apartment living life. When I lived in my apartment, I had a noisy eldery couple that lived above me and then supers' apartment below me - him and his wife would have screaming matches at all hours of the night, and his son would blast music, and next to me I had a couple who liked to have sex on their living room couch which shared the wall with my bedroom.

Re: Please help calm me down...

Do you have a family member that you could stay with for a few days, or at least a few hours to get some peace and quiet and maybe some sleep?

I hate apartment living for this very reason. My landlord downstairs isn't as noisy as your neighbors but I can still hear things like their garage door slamming at all hours of the morning and night (door is directly below our bed), them fighting all summer long with the windows open, etc.

Have you complained to your landlord? IMO that is just rude. It seems like they are constantly disturbing the peace.

This probably isnt an option - but could you call the landlord and ask him to carpet the apartment with extra thick, sound absorbing padding? You should not have to live like this!

Yes we have...and unfortunately they don't give a sh**! I've complained ENDLESSLY! These people have rugs in their apartment just like us, but they aren't as good as the apartment we are in. I'm fully convinced that the landlord doesn't care as long as they get their rent. They tried to make it seem like they were so worried about getting good tenants. I WISH they were here to hear this crap! Maybe then they'd see I'm not EXAGGERATING!

These people have no regard for anyone but themselves and let it be known..2 weeks from now my daughter arrives and all HELL is going to break loose if this sh** doesn't stop! Enough is enough!

I'm hoping that once the fiance moves in, we won't start hearing them fighting or doing OTHER things... Chat Icon

The bad part is..she seems young, and NOT in control of her son.

Re: Please help calm me down...

I know exactly what you are going through.

I used to live in a neighborhood that when we moved in, it was so peaceful and calm but to be honest, after a few months, things started to change and some odd people, can we say low class, moved in to our building.

It was bad, music everynight, those people got into fights with neighbors from the next building.

Sadly, I couldn't take that anymore and we just moved.
My daughter was a baby at that time too.

Is moving even an option?

Unfortunately moving is out of the question right now. We moved here in December, new baby coming in 2 weeks, still paying off our wedding. Looks like we are stuck here for a while UNFORTUNATELY. More incentive to pay off our wedding bills faster..I guess..right?

Our goal is to get a house....and that requires saving money.

Re: Please help calm me down...

Mimi, you POOR thing! I totally feel your frustration... I hate rude neighbors!!!

Seriously though, maybe you need to consider moving. You mentioned that you're 9mos preg (so awesome- baby's almost here!), and when you have the baby, I can only imagine that it will be more difficult. Not only will you be searching for sleep, but now you'll be trying to keep your home quiet so the obnoxious neighbors don't wake the baby.

I know this may be the last thing from your mind, but I'd seriously consider moving if I were you. I've read post after post that you've written (and I can totally relate with the azzhole renters we have next door and their weeds growing through our fence Chat Icon ), and it seems this is a huge problem for you.

Good luck and keep us updated!
