Breastfeeding question
I have been producing way too much milk and leak all over the place all the time. I'm using the nursing pads but did get mastitis. How can I reduce my supply, b/c everything is soaked in milk, my clothes, sheets, furniture...?

I fed on demand but still had that happen occasionally in the 1st few weeks. It ought to get better once your supply is established  You can always pump and freeze.

It is all about supply and demand. you do not want to pump, that will increase your supply. If it is totaly unbearable, you could try icing down a little bit inbetween.

This has been a problem for me. Here is some info that La Leche sent me about oversupply/overactive letdown. I have been following the advice and it has been helping. It Has taken about a week, but I am seeing a difference.

I had an oversupply which resulted in plugged ducts all the time and mastistis.
Don't pump! Supply and demand will get you in the butt.
Try to change your feeding postion work with gravity. Lie back on some pillows and nurse baby that way, it slows down the flow. It will take a couple weeks but it should slow you down a bit.
If you just started nursing too, your supply will regulate as baby eats.

ETA: Mastistis could have been caused by the nursing pads too, forcing bacteria into your nips/breasts. Try to get ones that don't have a plastic lining in them and change them very often like as soon as you wet them.

this was completely me till 5 months.
Our mattress is ruined. Put the pump away. Only use it when necessary.
I love the gerber pads. Change them frequently. I use to take my bra off while nursing. I would put a cloth diaper around the boob he wasn't on. Anytime I nursed, my non nursing boob would leak like a faucet.
You have to air them out as well. I think that is where I messed up. I found use of the cloth diapers.
