POLL: Disturbing or good job ?

Curious what others opinions are.

Smithtown residents:

Has anyone been to Hoyt Farms yet this season?

Not sure if this is just there somedays.
But the employees have a stroller right at the entrance of the park.

Now we slow down to show our sticker, and of course look around carefully as there are tons of kids in the parks/parking lot.

Right at the side of the car, the employees "parked" an umbrella stroller with a "toddler size" doll, and the doll is on her knees, backwards, with her head in a pillow.
picture a little girl throwing a fit, sitting up, yet turned towards her mom, with her face in a pillow. SO you just see the back of a little girls head.

Now we know a doll when we see one, but this was a toddler size doll, and we're not used to seeing a 3yr old size doll.

There were a few other kids there when I was entering, and I asked the dad if I was ok to go, and he was STARING at this stroller, but I thought it was one of his own kids... but when I saw how he had a look of he didnt know whether to mind his business or walk away...

So I drove in and kept looking at it through my mirrors. and of course I figured the employees are RIGHT THERE at the booth, they would know if that was a child...

So I had to ask, and the guy at the booth said they have it there so people can slow down.. that people DASH into the lot and insane speeds.

Now I see the point as being in the best interest of our precious children...

But seeing it scared the crap out of me and many others he said...

I guess its better to have that as a wake up call to avoid something terrible.

DO you think this was done in poor taste, or do you think sometimes we need things like this to avoid accidents/tragedies....

It's interesting to say the least....but couldn't they have put a gate or something or a speed bump so people don't race?

It creeped me out. I was there a few weeks ago for a softball picnic and this became the topic of discussion. One thing I will say is everyone I saw slowed down so it certainly served its purpose.
