I was supposed to have and internal....

on friday and the nurse practitioner could not finish it b/c I was squirming too much so she said the doctor would do it next week instead. I never went to a nurse practitioner but I had to change my appointment and she was the only person available. I felt like she was digging for gold. She was able to do the strep test but the internal was too much for me
Is it really that painful and how long is an internal exam?

It's just like a really uncomfortable pap smear. My first one was worse then the rest so far bc I didn't know what to expect.

I was so scared for my first internal on Friday, but it really wasn't bad at all and took a total of 5 seconds.

she was in there for a while and I thought that was it and she just stopped and said that she did not want to torcher me any further and that the doc would do it next week.

I find that bizarre...it takes like 2 seconds!!!!!!!

B/c of my cervix issues I have a ton of them compared to the "normal" pregnancy..and my cervix is very posterior which makes it difficult to get too..and Ive never really felt that it was an issue..can be uncomfortable though.

I will say that internals can be different. It depends if you are still high or if you have dropped. If you are still high - they have to go higher up and that's more painful.

Also there are things OBs and MW/NP can do to get labor going and that will hurt more.

I will say that I could handle the internals in the office, but at the hospital it was definitely different (they were trying to get labor going)
