Glucose Test
I have my glucose test on Monday, June 4. Can anyone provide me with what to expect or any suggestions? Also how long is this test? TIA!!

I had mine this past Monday and I drank the special liquid 1 hr before my appt. When I got to the Dr. they waited until it had been exactly 1 hr since I drank it and drew 2 vials of blood. That's it.
My Dr. also told me to eat normally the day before and the day of the test, but it seems that many doctors tell you to fast sio I would check with your Dr.
If you're taking the 3-hour test I don't know anything about that.

My only suggestion is, if they have fruit punch take it. It was very yummy!

Ugh, I hated the glucose test.
For the 1 hour test, you dont need to fast, but I was told after the fact that I shouldnt have had a brownie at 10:00 the night before the test
For the 3 hour test, you have to fast the night before, they take blood, you drink the gross drink and they take blood every hour...a total of 4 times.

I did not mind it.
- I fasted after midnight (well, really after dinner).
- Took the "punch" flavor drink (or take the OJ flavor)... NOT the lemonade (I was told it was not good).
- Waited for 1 hour (brought a book)
- Took the blood test.
That's it!

I was told not to eat anything for 12 hours before my 1 hour test. Thankfully my appt was first thing in the morning.
Unfortunately I did not have the option of choosing my flavor  I had lemon-lime. Which really wasn't too bad taste-wise. But after drinking half of it I had to force myself to drink the rest. That was the worst part for me, the last part of the drink.
Then waited an hour and they took my blood.
I had completely worked myself into a panic about it and it really was nothing for me to get worked up about. Please let us know how you do!

I have mine on Tues but they gave me the drink at my last appt. My dr told me to drink it about 40 min before the appt & they will take my blood when I get there. She said I don't have to fast but try to avoid extra-sugary foods & keep the drink cold so it tastes better.
