Is 34 weeks too late for a shower?

i am 36 1/2 weeks and havent had mine yet ( i think its this weekend coming up), i def think its to close to my due date, but my DH planned it and we have three families b/t the two of us so my poor DH had to work around everyones schedule and i have a feeling this was one of the only dates all the three mom's/stepmoms could make it. I would have liked it when i as atleast 34 weeks or before, but i am grateful to be having one at all!

We planned my sisters for 36 weeks and she had the baby at 35......so, my opinion... I think it should be a littel earlier..... hence, they are having mine at 33....

I had mine at 34 1/2 weeks with no problems. So I would say 34 weeks is aok.

well i'm 37 weeks this week and my shower is this week too!!! i wish it wasn't so late but there's nothing i can do. i think 34 weeks is on the later side for some people but definitely not too late.

I had mine at around 30 weeks...The only reason I would say 34 weeks might be a little late is that you might be uncomfortable at that point. The bigger you get, the harder it is to sit for long periods of time.

I just had mine 2 days ago, and I'm 36 weeks. I was nervous it was so late, because I was afraid I wouldn't get everything done in time. That kind of died down, but now that I look at the mounds of stuff in my basement that I have to go through, sort, organize, wash, etc., I'm overwhelmed again!! Oh, and thank you notes to write!

I'd say do it earlier if you can...there's no harm in having it earlier.

nope, i was 33 or 34 at the time of mine. it's actually a good time b/c it's late enough that you won't fill your house up too soon and early enough that you can still go out and purchase things you didn't get over the remaining weeks.

I had one at 34 weeks and one at 36 weeks.

I think 34 weeks is fine. I had mine at 37.5 weeks and I kind of hated it when I found out, but the actual party was a lot of fun.

I had DS ten days later....and I am still trying to finish the thank you notes

I think 34 weeks is fine. But it depends on if you need to travel or not. I warned both our families that I couldn't travel off of LI after a certain date. (None of our family lives on Long Island)

I get scared though because my SIL had her shower scheduled for 35 weeks but had her first child at 32 weeks. So my family likes to do things in advance now.

I had mine at 35 weeks only because it was the only weekend my stepmother and sister could fly in. I was uncomfortable opening up the gifts although I had a ton of help. I ended up having the baby the next day (it was an emergency c-section)

I think it is totally fine. I had mine at around 34 weeks too and had no issues.
