this has been bugging me...

first little back ground, my mil has 3 boys. my fil's brothers have 3 boys and 1 girl between them. so there are no girls on his side. and on my mil's side, her sister has 3 boys, 1 girl nd their kids are boys, aside from one girl.

so mil really wants a girl. don't get me wrong, me and dh do too, but we will be happy either way.

that said, after i went for my 9 week sono we went to il's to show them and for cake for bil's b-day. so, i'm in the bathroom when i hear mil say, in her happiest voice, "oh, its gonna be a boy." W T F???? are you kidding me??? its your first gd grandchild and you are upset it may be a boy. get over it and get over it fast.

would that bug you or am i just crazy preggo nut case?

it would probably irk me a little, but you can't tell at 9 weeks what it is, so I wouldn't let it bother you

That would bug me also....BUT I'm a full-force preggo nut case, so I may not be the best person to go by.....

That would bother me. You will love the child no matter what the gender!

It is reality that all people have some sort of gender preference. There is a whole website on it. They talk about disappointment, etc. You will love your child no matter what so the insensitive things that people say should roll of your back. People just don't think!

i did at first, but its one of those things that gets under your skin.

i don't want her to be there when and if i have a boy. i'd hate to see her disappointed over the birth of her first grandchild.

Awh I'm sorry your MIL upset you. I swear, people esp. family do NOT know how to act and what to say around a pg woman!!!!

My DH is the oldest of 4 boys, so I can sort of relate to the family history. My family, is all girls. Every last one of my cousins is a girl.

I don't think MIL cared either way. I'd be very upset too, if she made a comment that might even imply she was disappointed.

that would bug me. Why can't they just keep their mouth shut and be happy and thats it?! Sometimes people just don't realize how what they say impacts others.

My SIL said the other day (knowing I am having a boy) "I wish you were having a girl" I felt kinda sad for a second I'm over it, but still, she is so sweet and I know she didn't realize that the comment would bother me.

That would bug me...but I wouldn't let it get to me. People are funny. My MIL wants us to have a boy and I'm sure if it's a girl she'll be a little disappointed. Honestly...I don't care about what my MIL wants but the comments are annoying.

That would bother me a little if only because I am not here to please everybody else but me and DH.

My grandmother told my mom who was having her 4th child and it was boy (3 girls before him!) "oh... I already have a grand-son (my cousin!), I did not need another one grand-son". My mom told her "geez.. I was not thinking about you when I got PG, we are having this child because WE wanted to. I am not having a child to GIVE YOU another grand-son".

See, in my family there are more girls then boys but my sister just had a boy. so there is no rhyme or reason to it. thanks again.

I know the feeling. I keep getting told "You're our last hope for a girl" ... ummm, yea no pressure!

I just reply with "it is what it is, no giving it back!"


Just ignore! They will love either a boy or a girl!
