Silicone Vs Latex nipples
I registered for and rec'd a starter set that comes with both latex and silicone nipples. What's the difference? It comes with a total of 5 1 silicone fast flow 1 silicone slow flow 1 latex fast flor 1 latex slow flow 1 orthodontic latex medium flow.
I want to buy more, but not sure which are best??
TIA

Re: Silicone Vs Latex nipples
Some babies like latex, some like silicone. I only use silicone. Latex can't go in the dishwasher, and I hate washing them by hand.
Slow flow is for when they are first born, then when it starts taking a long time to feed and they seem frustrated you move to medium, then to fast.
Although we use the Playtex drop ins and there is no medium for silicone nipples, so we stayed with slow until they were about 5 or 6 months, and then moved to fast during the day and then when they were used to them we started to use the fast at night. I was worried that they'd choke if they fell asleep feeding.

Re: Silicone Vs Latex nipples
I was told not to use latex for a newborn because of possible latex allergies. Start with the silicone.

Re: Silicone Vs Latex nipples
I use Silicone also. Another thing about latex besides what was mentioned is that onces they get their teeth in they have a habit of biting the nipple and pulling. Latex can easliy be bitten off and they can swallow it ( my mother only used latex with all 5 of us and my sibblings were always making holes in the nipples).

that is what I heard. I had bottles that came with latex and I switched them out to silicone.
