Hair question for the gurus

So, now that I've put a brown shade in my hair to cover highlights, which it did nicely; I only see a few, very very light brown ones...what can I expect, I guess? The shade was not permanent and is supposed to "wash out" in 28 shampoos. (Clove, Natural Instincts) The color is basically the same as my root haircolor and it had ash in it, to avoid hair turning red. I haven't washed it since doing it yesterday so I'm sure it's going to lighten up...now I'm just worried I somehow am going to be three colors eventually, or something! Man, when I go in for a trim, my hair lady is going to be mad. But come on....$8.99 people! And it looks good! Anyone who has used box color have advice for me?

Re: Hair question for the gurus

I just did this with my highlighted hair, although I used spiced tea.

I had pieces that were lighter than others, but it just gradually washed out. No multiple colors going on.

Yes, they are back. It went back to exactly the same way it was before I dyed it, except my roots are longer Chat Icon

Re: Hair question for the gurus

You can support the colour by using a color wash every now & again. John Frieda makes a great one for various different tones. If you ussed Clove, then you should try John Frieda's "Chocolate to Espresso" Color wash.

I had very damaged very over-processed highlighted hair. I do not get too much red showing through, but I do eventually get lighter brown bits where my hair was extra-blonde.

I like the multi-tonal browns. It makes it look more natural to me.Chat Icon
